Dobson & Parnell is located on Newcastle’s quayside and is brought to you by the team at Blackfriars Restaurant. The restaurant was named after the architects who designed the Grade II listed building – John Dobson and William Parnell – and the interior combines Victorian elegance and old school glamour.
The menu offers exciting European and British food with dishes including Scottish scallops, ramson veloute, fermented horseradish cream, lightly smoked pigeon breast, confit leg, Yorkshire rhubarb, pistachio, Roasted corn-fed chicken, pan haggerty, braised lettuce, bacon, peas and Waterford house farm lamb, white and yellow turnip, black garlic, onions For dessert you could try the Yorkshire rhubarb, ricotta and white chocolate parfait with whey fudge or Valrhona manjari chocolate, Fudge, peanut butter.
For those who are a little more adventurous, a seven-course tasting menu with matching wines is served Tuesday–Saturday evenings. Dobson & Parnell also serves an excellent value lunch of three courses for £19 and an early evening set menu. Weekend lunches are popular as people combine a visit to the restaurant with a walk around the quayside. Sunday lunch, served from 12-4pm, and is highly recommended. Chef Patron Troy Terrington, formerly Head Chef at Blackfriars and Jesmond Dene House, is one of a new breed of talented young chefs, so expect that something extra. It’s no wonder Dobson & Parnell is quickly making a name for itself.
