I would strongly advise not to eat here ......Very dissapointing with most aspects of this dining experience. The menu = poor, very basic, and when it is stated that the cannelloni is infact homemade is a worry what else would it be? frozen? supermarket bought? Food Quality = poor, starters were served with basic side salad no taste, no dressing, deep fried brie which im sorry to say was cooked from frozen it was obvious and the chicken livers were so big they had been fed steroids! The veal over cooked, chewy, my chicken dish was dry and chewy with a basic tomato sauce thrown over it which was supposed to be rosemary red wine mushroom creamy sauce accompanied with a lets have an easy life sliced potato with cheese over the top and veg. What if you dont like cheese on your potatoes? there was no choice offered. On a positive note the steak ordered was apparantly cooked to perfection and very nice and the deserts profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding and tiramisu were nice. Service = ok, atmosphere = there wasnt one really. There was no italian authenticity in the menu, food or restaurant itself even though it has been attempted with the grand statues and decor. You can eat in the most basic of restaurants without the fancy gold and wood and pottery and have an amazingly cooked meal that makes you want to go back for more. This eating experience made me want to run a mile especially the next day when two of us who ate different meals have tender tummys ....

“There’s only so many naked men I can look at in one night,†said the wife half way through dinner. (Yeah, right!) And that perhaps gives you a flavour of how ‘different’ this meal out was. I’ve never been to Don Antonio’s in Bispham before despite the fact it’s been around for 20 years or so. The decor is old skool with a capital K and words really don’t do it justice. More wood panelling than a gentleman’s club, mirrored chandeliers straight out of the Playboy mansion and naked classical statues that wouldn't look amiss in the Forum. Perhaps not to everyone’s taste but hey, it beats Italian flags and straw-covered Chianti bottles. But I ask myself, after putting all this effort into the decor, why on earth have an open kitchen that’s just gives your customers views of a series of ugly stainless steel fridges? C’mon guys, build some little hatchway or facade that’s in keeping with the rest of the dining room. Some other little niggles too – a door that slams shut every time someone walks in (sort it!!), a tinny sound system that doesn't do the place justice (easily upgraded) and a wine list with no producer or vintage information (that’s just me the wine geek being picky). But I have to say that overall the food and service here were good. Waiting staff can make a real difference to a meal and the Italian guy and girl that served us were friendly and attentive and he seemed genuinely interested when he asked how we were enjoying our food. And we did. Again. It’s a bit ‘different’ to have the blackboard specials actually handed to you at the table on a blackboard but the turkey ravioli starter I had was very good and the choice of starters and mains offered something more than your typical Italian restaurant. My pizza was lovely too. We decided to skip dessert and finish with coffees and I guess it should have been no surprise that a coffee list appeared with a choice of about 10 different liqueur coffees, the kind of stuff your great aunt might have ordered 20 years ago along with a Brandy and Babycham. I asked for a macchiato, which needless to say wasn't on the list, and not only did they rustle one up but it was far better than anything I've ever had in a Starbucks or Costa. In short, this was one of the most ‘memorable’ meals out I’ve had in quite some time. Give it a try, even if naked men aren't really your gig.

Love this restaurant!!!! Good prices too.. The food is excellent... Me and my partner always have the same!.. Meatballs for starters spaghetti bol for main and jelly and ice cream and coffee's for desert. The lady that runs this restaurant is fabulous and always so welcoming. The decor and lighting is fantastic! There's also parking across the road in sainsbury's which is a bonus!! :)

ate at don antonio's this evening 15/1/2010. food was good but it would have been warmer eating in an igloo and the service was so slow. meal booked for 8pm hadn't had our main course at 9.30pm.

I am a regular visitor to Don Antonio and always find the food and service to be the most tasty and welcoming in the Fylde. The decor is wonderful and when I have ended the night it always feels like I have truly been pampered without breaking the bank.
Don Antonio Italian Restaurant
A pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy the very good food with staff with a sense of humour without being imposing. We return regularly.
