About The Anchorage Restaurant

The Anchorage is a charming pub/restaurant nestled beneath the Carrick Hills on the dramatic Ayrshire coastline at the seaside hamlet of Dunure. It’s the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience too - as you savour the freshest catch, you'll be captivated by the historic Dunure Castle, standing proudly on the clifftop. The menu features locally caught lobster, mussels, langoustines and scallops alongside traditional classics such as steak pie, Anchorage chicken, fish & chips, steaks and daily specials. But their seafood platter is the real showstopper and not to be missed. The Anchorage has a large selection of draught and bottled beers, wines and spirits and their cosy fireside has played host to the cast and crew of some notable productions filmed locally including Outlander Seasons 3 and 4, The Last Bus (2021), and the latest series of 'Annika' starring Nicola Walker.

Fantastic food (including lobster landed at Dunure) and service in a glorious location. Brilliant choice for gluten-free too. Highly recommended

Brought my friends from London to have Sunday lunch with our two dogs. Could not have been made more welcome. They had reserved the table we requested and did not mind our dogs sitting on the bench beside us. So many places say they are dog friendly when they barely tolerate dogs. Here you feel the dogs are truly welcomed. The food was glorious. One of us had Scallops with haggis crumb and chips, The other two had Scallop and langoustine risotto. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. All of it was a total delight and beautifully presented. I can’t wait to come back. Thanks so much.

We went to the Anchorage for Sunday lunch as we knew it was dog-friendly with great food and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were really friendly (especially to our dog!) and the food was delicious and well-presented as well as lovely and hot. We will be back soon!

We had a lovely meal here for lunch. Staff were so helpful and lovely and attentive. Portion sizes could have been a big bigger as the costs were quite high.

Excellent food. Chicken with Parma ham, 8ox steak with mushroom sauce. We both had the cheesecake which was tasty and not the usual gloopy mess served in other restaurants. Quiet as a Monday lunchtime. Will definitely come again.

Another excellent lunch at the Anchorage - good size portions of tasty food, friendly service. Seafood Linguine the stand out today, though Sweet Potato Chilli Soup was a close second!

Went for a meal the other night. Food was outstanding but service let it down. First chap seemed to be running around everywhere and young girl was very unsure. It was small things like having to ask for cutlery after our dinner had been presented that let it down

Such a lovely time. Lucus was attentive. Onwwers so friendly and open. Had a laugh. Food so nice and lovely time on valentines night. Such a lovely place to dine and eat. So relaxed and laced back. Good menu and plan to return with in the month. Taste the seafood linguine. Really enjoyed our fish chips. Thank you so much Anchorage. Doing a great job and will be back. Kind regards Yvonne Flood
