About East End Arms

Tucked away just off the beaten track between Lymington and the heart of the New Forest, the East End Arms is a traditional English country inn beloved by locals and visitors alike. Bought in 1990 by John Illsley, the bass guitarist of Dire Straits, it has grown into a destination venue, offering a relaxed atmosphere, locally brewed ales and a menu that caters to all tastes. Upstairs, the five stylish double bedrooms are individually designed with quality furnishings and comfort in mind, a perfect base to explore the New Forest.

Had a lovely evening at the East End Arms. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Good value too. Will certainly visit again when we are next in the area.

We eaten twice here recently and have enjoyed our meals on both occasions. The service and staff are excellent . The food although a bit on the pricey side is still very good. We’ve also eaten at other new forest pubs but the East End Arms has become our go to pub

We went for Sunday lunch with visiting guests from overseas. Reception upon arrival was attentive and jovial. Seated immediately. Had a variety of waiting staff attend to us for drinks and meal order. Later on when more tables in the service was a little more delayed but still friendly. We had the roast beef roast dinners which was was excellent and loads on the plate. Would have liked to have known if they offered a child's portion for one of our senior guests as couldn't finish this portion. Disappointed that they did not gave any brandy in stock at the bar. Staff was very apologetic and happy the offer other suggestions. Overall it was an enjoyable lunch out in the New Forest. We will recommend and come back again as the weather warms up.

Excellent meal on a Thursday evening in a pretty busy restaurant and great breakfast the next morning. The staff were extremely good on both occasions. I would recommend. This is the second time we have visited and stayed over and the previous time was good too. The bar in the pub had a very busy and cheerful / noisy atmosphere early evening which we enjoyed.

fabulous food - the burgers were delicious. staff super lovely and polite and a great atmosphere. The fact that is was full on a Tuesday night says it all. Book ahead and enjoy.

Always love coming here. Venue is fab and the sun was shining. Sadly for us this time for a family Birthday the service was a little poor due to few staff and had to ask for coffee. The lady who served us was rushed off her feet. We weren’t even offered dessert. A little soulless this time with awkward silences in the restaurant and needed some background music. A shame when showcasing it to visitors. Food was good for some and not much flavour or gritty for others.

We booked an early table for Saturday evening with good friends who were visiting us. We love the East End Arms and have had some great evenings and Sunday lunches in the courtyard. We waited over an hour for our food with no updates from the staff. The food was mainly good, but two mains were cold. Once we finished we waited another 20 minutes before someone came to speak with us. Sadly by then we had all decided we were ready to go home, so left. We really hope the team can address the service and client interaction as it's such a great place.

We have stayed and eaten at the East End Arms on about 6 or more occasions and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and good pub food and wine at reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend both staying and eating there. My only complaint is it can become pretty noisy if the restaurant is full and you are unlucky enough to be close the loud table.
