About Fourteen Drops

Fourteen Drops is a wine shop, bar and deli on the High Street in the historic North Yorkshire market town of Yarm. They have a fantastic range of more than 200 wines on an ever-changing list which you can buy to take home or try in-store along with one of their sharing boards or small plates. Cheeses are sourced from Neil’s Yard Dairy and meat from Block ‘n’ Bottle in Newcastle as well as direct from Italy. You can book a table online and there is also a cosy private bar available for special events. And just along the High Street Fourteen Drops at the Market Hall is an option too. Fourteen Drops is  open Wednesday to Sunday from early til late.

A friend and I came Saturday lunch time. Lovely server and really helpful with wine selection. Always enjoy coming here and feel the value for money is worth it. You get to try unique wines and foods and it’s nice to have this variety local.

We had a charcuterie board- good selection of meats and cheeses- no description of what we were being served but all delicious. Having to choose regular vs large and then next from small/medium/large/grande was confusing (we went for a ‘regular medium’!). Wine was nice and not overpriced. Great to have table water waiting for us. Sadly the service wasn’t brilliant: after 15 minutes of sitting we had to ask for the food menu (we had booked in advance too, not just walk ins). Then when we were still eating we were told we’d have to vacate in 15 minutes as there was another booking coming- if you want to process people quickly then serve them quicker, don’t make them feel pressured to eat up! Generally it was a pleasant night and I would go back, I understand the idea is to create a laid-back vibe but the service could do with being a good deal sharper to ensure guests feel well looked after.

Hey! I booked a table for 9pm on the 30th Jan, this was done online about a week prior. We got to the restaurant for our booking at 9pm the waitress advised 4 people were sat at our table … 2 were moved, and the other couple sat uncomfortably close. At this point no one advised that they had stopped serving food. We got seated and I asked for a menu to be advised they stopped serving at 9. We left as had plan to have tea with friends. At no point when I booked was I advised they stopped at 9 and no one in the week called me to advise this. Really poor experience! FYI booked before 9.

Lovely wine and cheese board at 14 drops. Staff were attentive. Quite pricy £54 for 3 glasses of wine and a cheese board, but it was lovely, especially the onion chutney.

Cracking place in Yarm to enjoy well prepared sharing boards with a great wine and beer selection! 12 of us for a works night get together were very well catered for!
