Been going to the Fox House for 18 years, it is definitely not as good as it once was, the prices have soared and the food is nowhere near as good. Had the steak and ale pie last night, the pastry was burnt on the outside and undercooked inside and the chips were actually grey in colour . Will not be returning...shame as we really used to enjoy our visits there.

I was in a party that attended the Foxhouse on Saturday 8th Oct and I must say that it was excellent, from the quality of the food guest ale and service. I was impressed with the sourcing of the food and knowledge of the waiter serving us, when asked where the venison was from immediately the farms name and location was given same with the steaks, fantastic. Our party found the prices to be very competitive taking the quality of the food we were served, I was reminded of an old saying "you get what you pay for" and this certainly rang true with our meal. My only criticism is they need a bigger car park as we had to park on the roadside up the street. Well done the Foxhouse, we all definitely will be back!!

Looking at the reviews from April last year and i would agree with everything that was said. Since then the prices have increased by 40% to 50% and the food is still the same. My favourite meal was always the three lamb chops this went from £8 to £14 and now as disappeared from the menu.

been coming here 23 years and can see how its slowly going down the food was nice but not enough on plate i paid 34 quid for 2 meals and was not happy 18 months ago you could pick owt and pay no more than 12 quid all you see now is customers having carverys and the pub is nowhere as full as it used to be the owners are trying to change too much even the staff say its very quiet so a word of advice lower your prices and higher the portions

Only go to the Foxhouse Inn for their carvery if you enjoy eating overcooked, dried up, coarse, inedible beef. Where do they source it from? It was the very poorest quality. They might cook it each day, so they say, although we were not so sure. It could have been heated up from the previous day. Our knives would not cut it and it could not be chewed. Same with the Yorkshires. They were dried up and inedible. Trouble is; they put the carvery out hours before it is eaten and the food just sits under very hot lamps for a very long time. To make matters worse, the staff were in complete denial and even argued that we were misguided when we presented very politely our feedback. One of them was quite aggressive. It seems we should not have had the temerity to give them feedback. They were understaffed and overstretched. Tables did not get cleared promptly. There was no apology from the staff, just arrogance from them. All in all, a very mediocre standard.

I agree with all the other reviews, there is only one place to go for a real home cooked bar meal, I have been going there since I was a teenager now I take my own teenagers there and the standard are consistent. It is almost an hours drive for us and worth every minute. I have never had Christmas dinner there but I am hoping to this year. I agree that it is a bit chilly I always make sure I have sleeves, you don't need a hat and scarf though.

Me and my family and also my boyfriends family have been going to the Fox House for years, it hasn't changed at all in the 12 years I have been coming. The food is amazing, proper pub grub what food should be like and you just know the meat is fresh and will be good English standard. The steaks are to die for, 12ox sirloin mega and with proper chips and onion rings, my boyfriend always has the liver and onions with bacon and now my mum has to have the lamp chops everytime we go, still never tried the carvery however it always looks mega, the steaks are v v special the best i have ever had amazing, the price and the service is fantastic too the staff are always happy to help and friendly. worth the travel we live in glossop so we are lucky it isn't that far. Will be going this weekend for my birthday!! cant wait. :)

I work at fox house's, Vegetables prepared 1 week before not fresh, Food dropped on floor and put on plates, Staff are very impatient, And talk about customers whilst eating. Chefs are rude cheeky and unclean. The pot washers, don't clean the knifes and forks properly, or plates. The food is reasonably priced, But from knowing what I do now, I wouldn't eat there again, The sweets are made from left over stock. and out of date products, I have heard about problems about the alcohol when staff are talking, But can't elaborate anymore because i don't know, The chips that are not eaten by customers are saved and served again, Like vegetables that ain't eaten. I'm very poorly treat by my boss Tracy, and other staff. The place isn't properly cleaned with the correct equipment, The kitchen utensils are cleaned with incorrect chemicals. The kitchen floor is cleaned with mucky water & mop.

I visited the Foxhouse Inn with my mum, and we had a Christmas lunch. It was the best Christmas meal i have had in a long time at a pub/restaurant!!!! The starters were varied, myself having the soup of the day, which was just enough with warm buttered bread rolls...for main we both had Turkey Dinner, the best tasting turkey i have had! Generous amounts of meat, stuffing , gravy, cranberry sauce , potatoes & veggies....plus a Chritsmas cracker!!!! For dessert we chose the Black Forest Gateau, lots of double cream & a fantastic portion.....then a cup of tea & mince pie for afters!!!!!!! Fantastic meal, worth the value , excellent service. will be going quite often, would recommend to any one ..who likes quality. good service, good food and a warm atmosphere!!!! 11/10!!!
