Only discovered this restaurant lately and what a find. Excellent Indonesian food very reasonably priced, accompanied with excellent service. No alcohol served so remember to take your own which is nice as its normally the alcohol that pushes the price of your night out up and you can take whatever you like so you are not limited too what wine is on the menu. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Indonesian food and if you haven't tried it before give it a go you won't regret it. One of the best.

This is a fantastic restaurant if you like stunning indonesian/thai style food. Superb vegetarian options as well as meat and fish. Lovely casual atmosphere, excellent, friendly service, nothing is to much trouble. B.Y.O wine, you should go there and see for yourself!

The Garuda is the hidden gem in Swansea and the only authentic Indonesian restaurant in Wales. It has a real family atmosphere - more like eating in a friend's house than at a restaurant. In addition, it has a BYO policy (no corkage charges) which means you can bring your favourite wine which certainly reduces the final cost of a meal. But people come here above all else for the food. It cannot be described in words - it really has to be tasted. When we were there I had the tastiest chicken satay I have ever eaten, followed by a really spicy beef rendang and special noodles. My partner had chicken soup as a starter followed by squid in a yellow bean sauce and gado-gado (mixed vegetables with s[icy peanut sauce). And to finish things off - really strong Indonesian coffee. The bill? £54.25. Afterwards we had the added pleasure of meeting the chef and owner - Ani - who is really charming and comes from Sumatra. She explained that everything is freshly cooked and that she grounds all her own spices, etc. to make her really delicious sauces. I can't recommend it highly enough. My only worry is that it will become too popular which means we will probably have to book weeks in advance to get a table there.
