Named after a local 19th century landowner, the Gerrard Arms at Aspull is midway between Wigan and Bolton and convenient for Jn 6 of the M61. It’s a friendly pub that’s been run by the same landlord for over a decade and serves quality home-cooked food. There’s a wide variety of dishes on offer and popular ‘Gerrard Favourites’ include Cock & Bull (strips of beef fillet and chicken in a creamy pepper sauce served with mash, hand-cut chips or rice and vegetables) and their Steak & Ale Pie (served with mash and mushy peas or baked beans). The pub has Sky Sports and BT, a beer garden and local cask ales. There’s a Quiz Night too every Tuesday.
