Since it opened in 1982, Gibbon Bridge, near Chipping in the heart of the Forest Of Bowland, has built a reputation as one of the county's most cherished four-star country hotels. It has picked up numerous awards, including year after year the North West in Bloom award for the gardens where a hot sandwich lunch menu is available. If you're in a group, one of the highlights of any spring or summer visit has to be an al fresco meal in one of three new thatched pergolas which can accommodate parties from 8 to 22 people. The main restaurant has wonderful views out over the gardens to the Longridge fells beyond and is open daily to non-residents for lunch and dinner and the new Victorian-styled Orangery can be used as an indoor venue for civil wedding ceremonies, to complement the existing outdoor bandstand, as wells as for breakfasts, afternoon tea and as a luxurious private dining setting. Menus are crafted around local, seasonal produce and Gibbon Bridge has its own bakery and kitchen garden.
