About Greyhound Inn Cotehill

The Greyhound Inn at Cotehill is a traditional village pub south of Carlisle and three miles from Jn 42 of the M6. In winter, there’s a lovely log burner promising a warm welcome and in summer there are outside seating areas to enjoy the sunshine. Expect traditional pub food with homemade chips and seasonal veg. The Greyhound sells local real ales, a selection of lagers and bitters on the pumps and a good selection of spirits and wines. There’s quiz night on the last Friday of the month and live entertainment once a month, usually on a Saturday evening.

We very much enjoyed our visit here whilst staying in the area with our 2 golden retrievers . We were made very welcome. They offered an extensive menu from a main menu and daily specials to a small plates/tapas selection. This was ideal for us as hubby loves tapas and I like a small plate of food. I chose the Haggis, neeps and tatties with a homemade whiskey sauce and it was delicious. Hubby enjoyed his 3 tapas selection. Only critique was the salad under the halloumi bites needed a dressing. We each had a lovely dessert. We found the prices reasonable and they had a good selection of ales. The pub itself was clean and cosy with a nice fire going. The manager and staff were very friendly and attentive. Surprised it wasn’t busier on a Friday night as it’s a lovely place. Oh and the ladies toilets looked new as very clean. We would definitely return on our next visit. Highly recommend

This is a very friendly family run pub with a brilliant kitchen. We regularly stay at the Crossroads B&B on our way back from Scotland (same proprietors). As well as being very friendly and accommodating we really look forward to the high quality of the food both at the pub in the evening and at breakfast in the morning at the B&B. 10 out of 10 from us. Well worth a visit.

This was the Greyhound Inn's first foray into Tapas and they certainly delivered. The food was well cooked, hot and served quickly. The menu was varied and portions really generous. We suffered that, for the smaller appetite, they offer a two tapas, as well as the three tapas menu. Left completely stuffed, and will be visiting again.

I am on a gluten free diet and had a Sunday roast. ALL the trimmings even a home make yorkshire pudding. It was wonderful and I had no reactions. They have lots of choices for gluten free on the menu even deserts which I would have had if hadn’t been so full. Will certainly eat here again when visiting the area.

Fantastic food Fantastic staff Fantastic pub.Best food we’ve had in a long time proper home cooked food.Yorkshire pudding filled with Cumberland sausage was amazing.Would highly recommend for the best food visit the greyhound inn xx

Very good Sunday Lunch, just like a “homemade meal” , thoroughly enjoyed it. Ambience a “bit basic “, however food was very good. We will definitely return again for both midweek meal or Sunday lunch again.
