Haven't been there yet but George's email about no children not allowed after 7pm makes it very appealing to us. As I cannot stand prams or noisy children where we are trying to have a nice enjoyable night out. Thank you Grosvenor Arms for making it adults only.

Still enjoyable, the setting cannot be beaten. My veg were a bit underdone last time, I don't like things boiled to mush, but, I do like them to be cooked if they are supposed to be hot! Not cheap, but lots of choice and the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce was wonderful.

Lovely country pub and picturesque setting, food was very good, my only negative comment is, it's not very child friendly as no pushchairs are allowed inside and no children are welcome after 7pm.
Gourmande
I can't believe there are not more reviews about the Grosvenor, or perhaps it shouldn't be advertised too much, as it may get even busier on weekends. This place is great for a drink (lots of drafts, large variety of whiskeys etc) or having a coffee with fab cakes or a great meal. The atmosphere is laid-back, the service personable. All in all a great place, a shame someone usually has to volunteer to drive, as its a 15 minute drive from Chester.

The Grosvenor Arms, scores very highly for ambience. It was built in red brick in the 19th century in the picturesque village of Aldford on the Duke of Westminster's estate. The interior is very interesting with a large number of pictures and engravings. In spring and autumn one could chose to eat in the conservatory and in high summer in the garden. There was a varied menu and the quality was good. The price was right for the quality. Expect to pay about £10-12 for a typical main course. I like freshly made coffee and the Grosvenor does cafeterias for one person. I cannot comment on the beer, as I don't drink.
