Built in 1431 on the site of an earlier house known as Globes Hall, Gupshill Manor is one of Tewkesbury’s most characterful pub-restaurants, with strong links to the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. The building has survived two major fires and still carries plenty of history, including ornate carved stonework around the fireplaces said to have come from Tewkesbury Monastery. It became a public house in the early 1950s and today combines traditional inn atmosphere with relaxed dining, weddings and private functions. Food is centred on traditional, seasonal pub dishes, with the kitchen making use of local suppliers including Ben Creese Butchers and DJ Perks & Sons Fruit and Veg. There are weekday, Sunday, dessert, buffet, cream tea and drinks menus, plus an evolving wine list and traditional ales including Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale. Dog owners are welcome in the hard-floored bar area and outside in the garden and patio, making it a handy stop for drinks, meals, family gatherings and events.
