About Hand and Dagger

The Hand & Dagger enjoys a lovely rural situation right next to the Lancaster Canal in Salwick. Business partners Martin Evans, former General Manager of the Dalmeny Hotel in St. Annes, and Steve Morgan, who has worked as a film industry caterer, have brought quality food and drink and friendly service to this great location. They have retained the community feel to the pub with its pool and darts teams and the hosting of regular events. The location attracts many cyclists, walkers and barge owners who can stop here for well-kept real ales and satisfying food. Chef Steve is creating traditional British pub food made from quality Lancashire produce. Expect potted Lytham shrimps, homemade Lancashire hot pot, curries, fish and chips, real pies and award-winning locally reared steaks with daily changing specials and desserts from the blackboard. Light lunches are also served with half-size portions available for the majority of dishes. Family friendly, they have a separate children's menu and Sundays see a full traditional roast with all the trimmings. The Hand & Dagger now has five campsite pitches available at £5 per night, pre-booking essential.

Excellent as usual. Lovely hearty meal in front of the fire after a paddle down the canal.

After spending hours looking for a pub or restaurant with good reviews in the Blackpool area [not an easy task] I finally found "The Hand And Dagger" and was not disappointed. We visited with my brother and sister in law for my husbands birthday. Cheerfully greeted at the door by the owner and shown to our pre-booked table which was ready for us. The service was excellent as was the food. The natives were friendly and my brother even met an old friend which set the evening off. There are open fires which added to the ambiance and very welcoming after braving the freezing weather outside. We will definitely be back and definitely recommend this location.

Tip top evening at the Hand and Dagger. Enjoyed a lovely meal with very well cared for Moorhouse's Ale. My wife thought her hake excellent and my steak and ale pie was too. The landlord is a character and kept us entertained! A tip, take a walk down the cancel tow path before or after your meal, very pleasant!
Ann - the mother of Astrid, you have been warned !)

Last Friday, Preston's Advanced Motorists' Group had a meal out at the Hand and Dagger and I went along as well. The overall evening was excellent with the atmosphere, help from the landlord and the food as there were over twenty of us. I have visited for a drink as I cycle or drive past but this was an evening which will bring me back from time to time instead of just a drink. Top marks for standards and service.

Great Sunday lunch.

Another nice Sunday lunch here followed by a walk along the Lancaster canal. Never seen it so busy and it wasn’t easy to get a table. No longer the Fylde’s best-kept secret it seems!
greg
