About Harbour Lights

Harbour Lights is the second-oldest pub in South Shields, dating back to 1834 and was previously known as the Crown Inn. It’s got great views out over the mouth of the River Tyne and North Shields Fish Quay and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. They also do a very popular Sunday Roast. Recently refurbished, the pub has a bar and a conservatory area with a contemporary feel as well as an enclosed beer garden when the weather permits. And the eye-catching exterior boasts gold signage and large black window frames.

Such a fabulous venue! Wonderful warm and welcoming staff. Great food selection at great prices. Super views over the mouth if the Tyne and the Groyne. Highly recommended.

Fabulous food and fabulous staff Hubby and I visited 3 weeks ago - first time we had been for years. The food was delicious. Went again yesterday for my dad's birthday. Staff went over and above - as my mum really wanted lobster and we hadn't realised the fish menu was Wednesday only. They checked and had 1 left - she thoroughly enjoyed it. Dad had fish & chips, sister had the cheese salad and i had the sea bass. All 4 were delicious and so reasonably priced. Highly recommend a visit. We will certainly be back many times in the future!

I booked a table for my wife's birthday on 15th August and we weren't disappointed. As usual, the service was friendly and efficient and the food was prepared and presented to a high standard. We love the menu as it always offers an option no matter what you fancy for lunch or dinner. Specials are always updated and there seems to be something new on offer every time we visit. My wife is coeliac and this is one of her favorite places becausr they offer excellent variety, especially for the desserts. Rarely does my wife get a choice of dessert, but here she always gets a choice of a few delicious desserts. On this occasion, the staff went the extra mile and brought out my wife's dessert while singing 'Happy Birthday' to her. It was a lovely touch and my wife loved it(even though she always gets embarrassed when we sing happy birthday to her! Haha) The food is well presented and is always freshly prepared and the prices they charge are very fair. We are yet to leave the place any less than satisfied and with a smile and we hope this never changes. We also hope the Harbour Lights never changes either as it is one of our favourite places to visit. We always recommend the place to everyone asking for a new place to dine out.

This place just gets better. I brought a friend who does not live local and she was over the moon and said she wished she had a place like this close to her. I would have no hesitation in recommending harbour lights to anyone. Well done team keep it up.

I challenge you to find a better Sunday lunch in South Shields. Their beef brisket just melts, or if you like your meat pink then the rump cut does not disappoint. The portions are generous and lunch is served with mixed vegetables, cauliflower cheese, mushy peas and thick gravy. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient. They have a good dessert selection if you’ve still got room in your sweet tummy. Excellent value for money too.
