About Harbour Lights

Harbour Lights is the second-oldest pub in South Shields, dating back to 1834 and was previously known as the Crown Inn. It’s got great views out over the mouth of the River Tyne and North Shields Fish Quay and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. They also do a very popular Sunday Roast. Recently refurbished, the pub has a bar and a conservatory area with a contemporary feel as well as an enclosed beer garden when the weather permits. And the eye-catching exterior boasts gold signage and large black window frames.

Lovely staff, lovely surroundings me and my family really enjoyed our meal would recommend no problems the tables were clean and tidy as was the pub and the staff didn't let empty plates build up which is a pet hate of mine overall very good.

A perfect way to start the day! Great friendly staff and lovely venue. Delicious well presented, home cooked breakfast. Always served quickly and efficiently and always by friendly staff who check to make sure everything is ok. Highly recommended.

Excellent meal we both had special of the day Whole lobster salad !! It was so well presented and very fresh the Chef excelled with this !! The staff were very pleasant and attentive. Will definitely be back again: and can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We had heard how great the food was from friends. Unfortunately we were very disappointed not with the quality but the quality was not very good. I had potato skins which I didnt have a problem with. However I had mince and dumplings as my main meal and my wife had a chicken dish. My dumpling was a reheat Rock hard. My wife's not no better. So there were 6 in the party and only 1 of us thought the meal was ok. I had heard such great reviews about the meals and we were very disappointed. However the staff were fantastic.

Booked a table for seven for my birthday, when we arrived was very surprised at how busy it was for a Thursday lunchtime, felt that was a good sign as to the quality of the food. We weren’t disappointed the food was very good. Portions were generous, and service very attentive. Will definitely go back.

Me and my wife have tried most restraunts on our doorstep and wanted too venture somewhere else I was searching on Google and found this place, booked online same day and wow what a little hidden gem it is the bar staff/ servers are very attentive very polite and a credit too the establishment. The food is extremely nice full of flavour and I'd say the price is very reasonable too, and our window view just capped it off for us. We really enjoyed the experience and we will definitely be returning. Thankyou too the amazing staff and chef for hosting us.

Harbour Lights. South Shields. What can I say other than please go there. We have eaten here for quite along time. Last visit was Sunday lunch last week. Everything is freshly cooked to perfection. Definitely no frozen veg or "dingy" microwave meals here. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Staff are all SO friendly.
