I stumbled upon this establishment and stopped off for a pint one Sunday lunchtime in the middle of a long journey. I intended ordering a pint of draught but on seeing a snorkel and flippers hanging up on the inside of the cellar door I decided to play it safe and instead ordered a bottle of Newcastle Brown. My fears were confirmed when a fire engine pulled up outside and a regular shouted to the landlord "gaffer the drays here",On observing the said landlord it seemed apparent he was carrying out a "service with a scowl policy" on mentioning this a local said "don't worry we're in the middle of unhappy hour the thing is it's a promotion that runs 365 days of the year"I eventually supped up my pint and left all in all a very interesting experience.
