About Hope and Anchor

Flookburgh is an old fishing village on the southern edge of the Lake District, close to Cartmel, Holker Hall and Grange-over-Sands. The Hope and Anchor is a Robinsons pub, restaurant and B&B with a large beer garden and food is served Friday to Sunday. The gastropub-style menu is full of home-cooked treats to suit all tastes and there's also a good selection of beers, wines and spirits as well as pub games, pool and darts.  The Hope and Anchor has a DJ at weekends plus karaoke on a Saturday. And if you fancy an overnight stay to explore this tranquil corner of the Lake District, there are seven letting rooms.

Good honest food served by friendly staff. We have just moved to Flookburgh and that was our second visit and we will visit more often as it will be our local.

Lovely meal on Friday at the Hope & Anchor. The pub has a great atmosphere & the staff were very friendly. We'll definitely come here again, when we are in the area

Visited during the May bank holiday weekend and despite it being busy the service was great. Good choice in the menu and the food portions were very generous but most importantly really well cooked and tasty. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. It is dog friendly and also has rooms although we didn’t stay there. Would highly recommend if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed

Nice pub feel with good bar service. The food was average at best. The burger was ok but the pie meals were poor. A slice of cold beef pie with an instant gravy poured over it. The chicken and leek pies weren’t much better, other than the gravy came in a separate gravy boat. The burger was probably the best meal of the five we ordered., so if we were in the area again that’s what I’d have.

We had a booking for 5th April for my son’s birthday. We called the day before to check that the main menu was available, with it being Easter Sunday and we was told it was. We were greeted well on arrival and served drinks. After 15/20 mins of reviewing the menu, we were asked for our food order, to then be told all starters were off the menu and all burgers. Given half the party wanted a burger and all of us wanted a starter, this was a disappointment. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. It would have been better to tell us on arrival for future reference.

Had Sunday lunch. Enjoyed by both one beef and one pork. All vegetables enjoyable and nice and hot. Will return.
