About House of Zen

The House of Zen enjoys a fab seafront location at Seaburn, a resort just north of Sunderland, and makes the most of the views with its large panoramic windows. It’s open seven days a week right through from 12 noon offering an exciting Asian Fusion menu which draws on both ingredients and techniques from across the Asian continent. Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Malay dishes feature prominently on a dinner menu that offers loads of choice. Whilst the stripped-down Lunch Menu still has plenty to go at and is great value at just £14.95 for two courses. There’s an excellent choice of drinks and cocktails too from House of Zen’s Bar 88.

We got the lunchtime menu so great value for money. The food was tasty and arrived quickly. Our server checked on us regularly but not overbearing. The venue has gorgeous views of the sea and a nice vibe inside.

Food stunning. Again. I highly recommend getting quite a few starters and treating it like a Tapas type meal. Wow. Prawn toast is supposed to be mundane. Not here. Spectacular!! Angry crab is to die for! And all with a view of the sea which is unrivalled.

This was our first visit to the restaurant and we had a very enjoyable meal. There's a huge menu to choose from. Our meals were nicely presented and tasty. The waitresses were friendly and cheerful. The place is really smartly decorated in an Asian / Chinese sort of style. It's not huge so was relatively quiet, making for a relaxing meal. And we thought the price was pretty reasonable for what we had. And... there's an amazing view of the sea too!

Enjoyed the food however the, I presume, Manager was quite abrupt and rude when we said we were there for Restaurant Week and not very patient. Table service was good.

The food was amazing and loved everything we eat! Unfortunately the service was very poor. We waited 20mins after finishing our starter for someone to collect our plates and get us another drink. We had a couple next to us who walked out as they were waiting a while also l. Apart from the service it was good. And we also had to pay £9 service fee.

The food is always delicious, the Team are always fab. My Friend and I had a lovely lunch and were very grateful to be given a voucher towards our next visit.
