Situated in the heart of Manchester’s Chinatown, Hunan Restaurant opened in 2010 and serves Hunan and Cantonese cuisine. It’s Hunan, the home province of Chairman Mao, that makes this venue stand out from the crowd and you won’t find these fiery Hunanese dishes anywhere else in the northwest. Expect lots of chilli and garlic, powerful aromas and deep colours. Popular choices include slow-cooked stews, smoked meats, refreshing stir-fries and delicate steamed vegetables. There’s also a Cantonese menu, banquet menus and a special lunch menu. Hunan Restaurant is open from 12 noon until late, seven days a week, and for groups, functions and celebrations of all kinds they offer special packages.
