About Imli

An Indian restaurant on Wood Street, St Annes' restaurant row, Imli is modern, spacious and plush. The chef-proprietor has over 25 years experience in the business and is by no means a newcomer to the local dining scene having run the popular and highly regarded Dilraj takeaway on St David's Road North for many years. Imli literally translates as tamarind and the stylish interior has had a recent refurb and sports black leather seats, white linen tablecloths and feature lighting. Expect a traditional Indian menu with a range of chef's specials, including the excellent Lamb Handi. Everything is cooked fresh to order and all dishes can be personalised to suit each customer's requirements. Imli is open 365 days a year and now for Sunday Lunch too. Lovely staff and terrific food. Chicken Tikka marinaded from scratch which is a very rare thing these days. The same applies to their shami kebab which also came with our mixed kebab starter. My jalfrezi for mains was also delicious and not at all greasy. So lucky to have Imli's in St Annes doing things properly and at a very fair price. Will be back again as soon as our baby sitter allows! x

Early bird menu (Mon-Thurs) gets you a starter and a main course for £10:00. This currently isn't matched anywhere else in St Annes so well worth taking advantage of. Informal atmosphere (just how I like it) and particularly attentive front of house staff who were keen, conscientious and chatty. Good variety of curries on the menu - dishes one would expect to see but also some exclusive to the restaurant. The mixed kebab came to the table sizzling, garnished with fresh coriander and accompanied with a great selection of Indian sauces and pickles - simply beautiful. Cannot recommend this wonderful starter enough. The chicken tikka samber for the main course packed a punch - softened slightly with the taste of fresh lemon and lentils - a most tasteful dish. Overall very impressive and will be returning soon. Top quality...

First visit to Imli last night. We arrived at 6pm and it very quickly filled up which is always a good sign. They have a great-value Early Bird selection – plenty of choice and if you’re talking poppadums, starters, curry, rice/naan, coffee and beers at £45 for 3 people you really can’t complain. Friendly staff too.

Visited Imli at the weekend for my partners birthday, when I phoned to book they asked if it was for a special occasion. We arrived to find a birthday balloon at the table and after the meal they brought a cake out with a sparkler, very nice touch. The food was beautiful and all 6 of the party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the waiters were lovely. Would definitely go again.

Took the family last night to this local Indian restaurant. It was the first time my 10 yr old and 7 yr old daughters had been to an Indian and the waiters were very good, explaining which dishes they might enjoy. It was early when we arrived and we were the only people in but it did start to fill up during the evening. My wife enjoyed the Rogan Josh and I had a house specialty dish, Lamb Handi, which was very tasty indeed. The freshness was obvious and all the dishes were of a good portion size. All in all a very good experience, more locals should give this place a chance. Maybe if you could find this place online it might help them gain more custom, I couldn't find their menus anywhere. I would recommend trying though.
