Set within Airport House, the former Croydon Airport terminal on Purley Way, Imperial Lounge and Restaurant makes full use of one of South London’s more unusual dining locations. The menu brings together contemporary Indian cooking and Indo-Chinese favourites, from chaats, Mughlai dishes and clay-oven kebabs to Hakka and Sichuan-inspired plates, backed by a bar offering cocktails and late opening on selected nights. The setting adds much of the character, with Croydon’s aviation history all around and the preserved aircraft outside underlining the building’s Imperial Airways heritage. With restaurant, lounge and private-hire spaces, it works as well for relaxed dinners as it does for celebrations, group dining and special occasions.
