Visited on Saturday at 4.00pm for Elizabeth's birthday treat. Menu very basic, childrens menu even worse for 9 and 10 year olds. Need more choice on both. Would have preferred to be downstairs seeing I had booked, as atmosphere is poor upstairs with too many young children around. Pity, name is good "Jamie's" but experience not so. My daughter advises that menu in Manchester is vast, so why not in Liverpool? May try again, just in case this was a bad time and day, but there is competition around.

Where to begin....The layout: too crowded.Children's menu: the promised chicken lollipops turned out to be chicken pieces - my 4-year-old was not impressed. There were bones in the fish fingers - my 18-month-old was even less impressed. The antipasti planks turned out to be of teeny tiny dimensions. Also, there was an uncooked chilli on them...The flash-grilled steak was so beaten it was as hard as the bottom of a shoe and dry.My fresh pasta had barely seen the boiling water - I like my pasta "al dente" but this was almost raw! When asked if everything was ok, I tried to explain about the steak and the waiter started explaining that it was supposed to be like that, you know because of the cooking method; after that, I avoided telling him about the other stuff. Some of the dishes ordered by the other at my table were described as good. The service was very friendly. All in all, too many gimmicks and not enough substance considering the name and the prices! Will not go again.

Looked at reviews and didn't fancy it. Husband said to give it a go. Service excellent, waitress knowledgeable about different food choices. Food excellent. We had an excellent early evening meal on a Sunday.

I've been there for both lunch and dinner with friends recently. I found the evening service to be rushed, although the lunchtime service was fine. The food however was very average and not very good value for money considering the price. The menu is also fairly limited. My Tuscan sausage dish consisted of one sausage broken up into pieces to make it look more than it was, in a dish full of lentils - fairly bland and not very inspired. It was ok but for £12 you would expect a little more both in terms of food and effort. This is a restaurant that clearly trades on its name and not its food.

Steak was yummy, service was ten out of ten and a wonderful atmosphere!
