About Jorges Restaurant

Situated in Orford Yard, off Red Lion Street, in the heart of Norwich, Jorge’s is a modern Portuguese restaurant with a cosy, intimate feel and new heated outdoor courtyard. Owner Jorge aims to recreate the special dishes from his Portuguese upbringing and runs the restaurant as a home from home – friends, good wine and great Portuguese cooking! Food is cooked over charcoal in the Berta oven and you will find lots of seafood, sharing dishes and house specialities such as Iberian black pork and Octopus. An exciting new steak menu has just been added bringing you the best meats from around the world ranging from Hereford steaks to Wagyu beef. Jorge’s is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday and at lunchtime there’s a fresh tapas menu including meat, fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes. The new heated courtyard is styled to look like a hidden Portuguese back street with ambient lighting, giving you a slice of Portugal right in the heart of Norwich.

This is a delightful restaurant, with excellent service and delicious dishes. The menu is flexible, but also very thoughtful, and creative without being silly. My wife and I ate wild mushrooms in a creamy sauce, tuna ceviche, which was refreshing and a novelty to me, and Herefordshire steak, which was impeccably cooked and really delicious. The Portuguese tart to follow was both fluffy and creamy. All this in a friendly warm atmosphere. This is a restaurant as it should be!

Great food and service, definitely up there as being one of my favorite restaurants in Norwich, we had a tapas selection to try a range of the gorgeous food and of course dessert all 10/10 couldn't fault it. We had been a few times but hadn't booked so I would recommend booking. Will be back back very soon. If I had one tiny suggestion would be maybe a cushion on the wooden chairs. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Fantastic meal. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. We ate off the specials menu, the food was fresh and delicious. Our waiter made good wine recommendations too. Worth every penny.

This was our third visit to Jorges in about 2 years. I continue to to be impressed. The food, wine and service are superb. There were quite a few tables occupied when we arrived at 1.30pm and some groups arrived after 2pm which pleases me. Please Norwich, continue to support this wonderful restaurant. I am in no way associated with the operator!

Great food as always, thank you! However, with the price of the food on the menu now and the minimum wage I dont believe that you or any restaurant should be putting a 12% service charge on the bill. All the employees are now earning enough money without the need for tips. This isn’t the USA. The customer is the baddie now when asking to take the service charge off, this experience puts a damper on the night so we choose to pay it just to keep the peace. Please take this on board as we love eating at the restaurant but it needs to be affordable with no nasty tastes when we get the bill at the end of the night. Keep up the good work, cooking beautiful food

We visited Jorge’s for dinner with friends. I had heard great things about the restaurant and it did not disappoint. We had a wonderful selection of delicious tapas and a bottle of Douro blend. All the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend and will visit again when in Norwich.
