About Jorges Restaurant

Situated in Orford Yard, off Red Lion Street, in the heart of Norwich, Jorge’s is a modern Portuguese restaurant with a cosy, intimate feel and new heated outdoor courtyard. Owner Jorge aims to recreate the special dishes from his Portuguese upbringing and runs the restaurant as a home from home – friends, good wine and great Portuguese cooking! Food is cooked over charcoal in the Berta oven and you will find lots of seafood, sharing dishes and house specialities such as Iberian black pork and Octopus. An exciting new steak menu has just been added bringing you the best meats from around the world ranging from Hereford steaks to Wagyu beef. Jorge’s is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday and at lunchtime there’s a fresh tapas menu including meat, fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes. The new heated courtyard is styled to look like a hidden Portuguese back street with ambient lighting, giving you a slice of Portugal right in the heart of Norwich.

It is always a pleasure to return to Jorge’s where we have had so many wonderful meals. This time we came with a friend from Singapore, a genuine gourmet and cook so we are always interested in what he thinks. He was full of praise for all three courses, as we too were of course. We are also grateful for the friendly service. It is lovely to return to a restaurant where they greet you for friends. Thank you for a splendid evening.

We had a tapas lunch here and I would definitely go back again. I especially liked the sardines, unlike any sardine I’ve ever had before, and the tuna ceviche. Different, interesting and tasty dishes. Loved everything we tried and would like to try other dishes. Lovely service, just the right amount of attention. Checking on drink requirements, removing plates to kept the table usable but not intrusive.

We had dinner at Jorge’s as a pre theatre yesterday. Jorge’s just about works as a pre theatre for the Theatre Royal, but the very helpful waitress suggested that next time we pre order as well so we have more time. So we missed a starter which was no doubt excellent. However , the maincourse as had by 4 of us, we were 6, was absolutely outstanding and one of the nicest restaurant dishes I’ve had in a long time and we eat out a lot. It was pork with clams, so much flavour , just wonderful, and probably very authentically Portuguese . Other guests who had more time seemed to be enjoying the seafood with rice which looked amazing. We would definitely go back. The service is friendly but measured as all the dishes are cooked to order. Recommend at any time!

What a great find. Had a love.y lunch here on Saturday. Excellent service, delicious food and good value. I especially liked the beef fillet in garlic and the tempura beans.

We had a fantastic meal here before going to the theatre and can thoroughly recommend. The starters were really very very good and we followed out with some logging main courses which included Madagascan prawn and a great selection of steaks
