About The Kings Arms

Set in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, The Kings Arms Fleggburgh blends the warmth of a traditional village pub with the ambition of a modern restaurant. At its core is a two AA rosette kitchen, delivering refined, seasonal cooking that makes full use of local produce — from fresh Norfolk seafood to carefully sourced meats and garden ingredients, with menus that evolve across lunch, dinner and tasting formats. The space itself reflects that dual identity, with a welcoming bar area for drinks and more casual plates alongside a smarter dining room that leans into a more considered, food-led experience. Under the direction of chef Mark Dixon, the kitchen brings a confident, contemporary touch while staying rooted in the region’s produce and traditions, striking a balance between polish and accessibility. Beyond the restaurant, the venue extends into a boutique B&B with a small collection of well-appointed rooms and garden lodges, making it as much a destination for a countryside stay as for a meal out. With its combination of strong cooking, relaxed service and a genuine sense of place, The Kings Arms is a standout example of the modern gastropub done properly — elevated, but never losing sight of its roots.

Fabulous meal. Lovely service. We were recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. Food was super tasty. Great wine list. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

In my personal opinion this is one of the finest places to eat in the region, I’ve tried most places. Always excellent service, always excellent food. Surprised to read reviews where this was criticised as we are fairly regular visitors and have never had a bad evening. Some may think it’s expensive but you definitely get what you pay for, the quality of the food and presentation is superb. Often it’s one or the other, here it’s both - fine dining I suggest. Also I’ve overheard grumbling about the apparently ‘small portions’ but the food is very rich and I always struggle to make way for dessert after two courses. Very highly recommended.

Myself and my husband visited last night, we took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer on steak , the steak was cooked to perfection just the way we asked for, onion rings were amazing I had peppercorn sauce which was delicious, whilst my husband had blue cheese sauce which he said was delicious, the staff were very friendly, the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We will certainly be back and hopefully have room for a dessert.

We're local so we eat here often and had our 50th Anniversary family lunch here last October. We booked a table on Friday evening and were surprised how quiet it seemed. The food was, as always, excellent but the service and the general atmosphere was very disappointing. The waiter took our drinks order promptly but failed to bring the jug of water we ordered in addition. After he had brought the bread rolls we realised there were no napkins on the table. We mentioned it to him and he said he would bring some but got sidetracked and we eventually had to ask the manageress who quickly brought both the water and the napkins. She put her coat on and left halfway through the evening which I understand but surely a side door would have looked more professional. The waiting time between courses was longer than usual and we were almost at the stage where we would have asked what the delay was. Finally, during coffee we had competing music coming at us from the kitchen and the bar areas. Quiet, instrumental music from the bar and loud rock music from the other end of the restaurant. We were there for a special reason with friends and I think we all left feeling a little let down.
