About Le Bistro Des Amis

Le Bistro Des Amis sits at the heart of the beautiful market town of Skipton. It’s a characterful venue with a lively French-style bistro at ground level and more of a restaurant feel upstairs. There’s also a mezzanine floor which is great for private dining. You can expect classic French cuisine served alongside modern British dishes based on ingredients sourced locally or direct from the famous French markets. Signature dishes include Traditional French Onion Soup, Moules Marinière and French fries, Traditional Burgundy Beef Bourguignon and Poulet a la Normandy Escalope. And all of the wines are sourced from The Wright Wine Company in Skipton. The staff here are super friendly and efficient and the cosy, laid back feel makes Le Bistro Des Amis the perfect choice whether you just want to pop in for a quick coffee or beer or linger over a full three-course dinner.

We visited this restaurant with another couple ad we all loved the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We all would definitely visit the Restaurant again and would highly recommend it. First class experience.

An excellent meal. The restaurant was busy when we were there, service was good and the waiting staff were attentive. Will return on our next visit to Skipton.

Five of us went as part of a family weekend away. Very pleased with our choice. Great location, close to everything that defines Skipton. Welcoming and attentive staff assisted in creating a great atmosphere. My daughter and I opted for the sea-food moneybag which was devine. We like to opt for dishes you would not attempt at home and this dish would have been a serious challange for anyone. Good reports heard on the Pork, the Chicken and the Steak Frites. The steak, incidentally, was way more substantial than a Steak Frites generally is. Could't manage sweets but they looked tempting. Great evening all round. Our thanks.

Booked for 21/3 to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. From the moment we arrived, our experience was appalling. I would never recommend anyone to go here. Shocking service. Below average food carelessly presented. A truly dreadful experience.

Been several times before for evening meals which are consistently excellent. We decided to give their Sunday lunch menu a try. Both of us had the brisket. Did not disappoint although my partner said his could’ve done with more gravy. Tasty as ever and we will be back - regular evening or Sunday lunch again.

Hello Le Bistro, You have invited us to write a review regarding our meal on 22 February. We do not like to write negative reviews that will be made public so we would prefer you to regard this as customer feedback to you as you have specifically requested a review. We booked a table with you as we wanted to give ourselves a treat for my birthday. The menus were left with us whilst we chose our meal. When the person waiting on our table took our order, we were informed that one of our choices was not available. It is a shame that was not pointed out originally. Our starter courses both seemed to have been reheated. The French onion soup tasted intense and over-reduced; the scallops were completely overcooked, with the sauce burnt around the edges and dried to a porridge consistency. We both ordered Award Winning Sea food money bags as our main course. The pastry was dark, the interior was dry, the fish was clothy and tough, the prawns were hard and the scallops were tasteless and overcooked. When we requested the bill we were directed downstairs where we payed and, for the first time we're asked if everything was ok. We said that we were not at all happy with the food. There was no apology or even any enquiry about our complaint. The staff we saw were all very young and inexperienced and so we can't blame them. I'm sorry that we have to give such a negative response, but the whole experience was incredibly disappointing, especially as it was my birthday. Please don't publish this publicly, we do not want to harm your business.

This place and Le Cavaux are the best places I have eaten anywhere and I live east of Ilkley so have tried quite a wide range of places across Wharfedale and Craven etc. (I admit I've never tried the Box Tree or Grantley Manor/Hotel but for the money Le Bistro des Amis is really good and we only had the early bird, (well pleased). Beats anywhere I've tried in Leeds etc. I only very very rarely ever give anyone or anything 5 stars but I had no bones to pick here and I can be very critical

We really enjoyed our evening. I had the best garlic mushroom starter that I've ever had. My wife really enjoyed her patè. My barnsley chop was maybe a tad overcooked but that was totally outweighed by the plate as a whole. Gravy was lovely, Yorkshire pudding was great, the vegetables were perfect. My wife had the money bag seafood and it was great. Definitely recommend

We had a lovely evening, my soup was gorgeous, so full of flavour. Mains were equally delicious, and dessert amazing all washed down with a bottle of 974. The staff were all very friendly and helpful too. We will definitely return thank you for a great dining experience.
