About Lewis’s Bistro

Lewis’s Bistro sits at the heart of the Lake District in Grasmere. This modern, family run venue seats just 24 per sitting so booking is advised. All dishes are cooked fresh to order - and where possible locally sourced - and the kitchen has a comprehensive understanding of allergens and a wide range of gluten-free dishes on offer. You might start with black pudding and mushrooms served with a spicy peppercorn sauce and micro-salad or Three pan-fried scallops with a pea puree and pancetta. Mains include Cumbrian fillet steak, Grasmere roasted lamb rack or a Mediterranean vegetable casserole followed by desserts such as Sticky toffee pudding, Bakewell tart and a Cumbrian cheeseboard. Lewis’s Bistro is fully licensed with a personally chosen selection of wines and spirits. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm.

Early sitting for evening meal for 2 people. Very easy booking system, welcomed with a smile and seated immediately. Great selection of courses and all our choices were cooked perfectly. Reasonable price for wine and food. Service was excellent. We have eaten at Lewis’s on 5 occasions and will definitely be visiting again soon.

Lewis’s bistro offers a menu that is not overly congested with options but enough to get the taste buds tingling. The venue, the food and the service is overall, very good. Our table had the Beef Stroganoff and the Sea Bass. The dishes were well cooked, tasty with excellent presentation. My only slight concerns were upon leaving, when one of the local employees let her views be known about people from outside of Cumbria buying property in Grasmere. Whilst we acknowledged her frustrations, being labelled as “you’re one of them” felt a little unnecessary. Customer service is about your customers experience and your views should be private. A slightly sour note to what is a great place to dine.

We always try and visit Lewis's when staying in Grasmere and are never disappointed. It's a lovely little restaurant with great staff The menu is varied and food delicious. We weren't dissapointed again this time. It's a little gem in Grasmere!

Food was delicious, staff were very welcoming and accommodating. I booked for my wife’s birthday and she was presented with a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival. This was very kind and much appreciated. We also brought our dog and again, the staff were very kind, patient and attentive with her. We had a lovely evening, thank you. Will definitely return.
