About Lewis’s Bistro

Lewis’s Bistro sits at the heart of the Lake District in Grasmere. This modern, family run venue seats just 24 per sitting so booking is advised. All dishes are cooked fresh to order - and where possible locally sourced - and the kitchen has a comprehensive understanding of allergens and a wide range of gluten-free dishes on offer. You might start with black pudding and mushrooms served with a spicy peppercorn sauce and micro-salad or Three pan-fried scallops with a pea puree and pancetta. Mains include Cumbrian fillet steak, Grasmere roasted lamb rack or a Mediterranean vegetable casserole followed by desserts such as Sticky toffee pudding, Bakewell tart and a Cumbrian cheeseboard. Lewis’s Bistro is fully licensed with a personally chosen selection of wines and spirits. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm.

Booked a table on line for Lewis’s which was very way to do. Arrived at my time slot to a warm welcome and a choice of tables which was nice. Service was great with a decent selection drinks to start. Food selection was excellent, not too much on the menu but difficult to choose from what was on offer. When visiting Grasmere Lewis’s is certainly worth evening visit.

I’m so pleased we booked as the restaurant was ‘full’ when we ate with at least one couple turned away. The service and food were excellent, particularly the beef dish which was top quality. We enjoyed our starters and main course so much we couldn’t even tackle a dessert… a rarity for me. We have stayed in the Lakes twice this year and dined at Lewis’s in both occasions… we’ll be back for sure.

A great little family run Bistro in the heart of Grasmere. All the food is freshly prepared and tasty with a great choice from a small number of well put together choices. There's a good atmosphere and prices are reasonable.

Visited Lewis’s Bistro based on reviews! I had the chicken supreme which was very tasty and my husband had the cod , if I was cooking cod with a nice topping, I’d have put it on the flesh side, this was on the skin side and as my husband doesn’t eat the skin, was left with a very bland piece of cod !I was looking forward to lemon cheesecake with a raspberry coulis .It didn’t come with the coulis , so it was very rich without it ! I think on the whole it was overpriced.

Once again the food was out of this world, every mouthful was devine and very flavoursome. We brought the grandkids this time and to say they loved it was an understatement, they even want to work there if they can get paid with the food! Menu is amazing with something for every taste. Excellent choices for GF Always welcomed with a smile and service is excellent, can’t wait to come back! Best food we’ve ever had!!! Many thanks Valerie x

Loved this. Great place, atmosphere and the food was superb. The fillet steak stroganoff was not what I had expected but it was _so_ much better. Already on our list to must do next time we are anywhere in the area.
