About Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire

Llys Meddyg is a gem of a hotel nestled underneath Carningli (the Mountain of the Angels) at Newport on the Nevern estuary, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The Georgian townhouse offers a unique blend of old and new with elegant furnishings, deep sofas and a welcoming fire. The menu at Llys Meddyg champions foraged ingredients from the shores, hedgerows and their own kitchen garden alongside seasonal fresh ingredients from passionate local producers, cooked in a wood-fired kitchen and designed to celebrate what’s best in season. The Dining Room, at the heart of the building, has intimate tables for couples, family and friends. Or you can enjoy an evening meal or drink in the enclosed Secret Garden where outdoor pods have bench seating and overhead heating. The Cellar Bar is located in the oldest part of the building and dates back to the 15th century when it was a mariners bar.  With its flagstone floor, log burner and inglenook fireplace, it has a unique atmosphere of curiosity, warmth and conviviality. All the bedrooms at Llys Meddyg are large, bright and comfortable with contemporary en suite facilities, double bed and stunning interiors. The hotel is a great base from which to explore the breathtaking beaches, rivers, woods and mountains that are just a stone’s throw away from your door.

Booked a table for a Saturday night. The new chef had created a really interesting menu and we were not disappointed with what we ordered. The team who looked after us were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The food was so good, we went back the next night. It would have been good to know the source of items e.g. butchers/farm for meats etc. Dining here is expensive but it is worth it. Make sure you pop into the Cellar bar before your meal to enjoy a cocktail.

Excellent food! We were there on NYE and had rhe set menu which was great. The monkfish was excellent and the venison was superb.

We booked dinner for 4 at Llys Meddyg and had to change the booking (number and date) at short notice- this was accepted with no problem. We had a lovely drink in the cellar bar. Then we went for dinner as a 2. We struggled to find parking, but once we did that all was fine. We even took the dog! Our waiter was pretty young and at times was unsure what was happening. We asked for a water bowl for the dog 3 times before it arrived. We ordered a Bluestone beer and gin, and the pint glass accompanying the beer was red hot so we asked for a new one. There were no more pint glasses. The food was good though- the beetroot starter was lovely but short of goats cheese. My husband’s pork cheek starter was cold which was odd (we assumed it was meant to be that way). The Guinea fowl meal was lovely as was my Hereford fillet steak (which was massive). The pudding menu was not to our liking so I had a coffee, which was brought across to the restaurant from the main building. We were sat by the kitchen which was nice as we could see the live preparation but the acoustics in the restaurant isn’t great and it was very noisy and hard to hear my husband or the waiter speaking. Decorations and setting lovely just the noise was a problem

We celebrated New Year at Llys Meddlys for the first time last night. What an amazing evening! The food was absolutely delicious, really imaginative. The atmosphere was great, serving the meal 'gala style' was perfect for a celebratory occasion. All the food was served promptly and was beautifully presented. After dinner we went across the Cellar Bar to see the New Year in, it was great fun. One of my best New Years. Big thanks to the team at Llys Meddlys, for a unique experience

We have been to this restaurant on 3 occasions. Unfortunately it has gone down a few notches. We were greeted by a young girl who was far from welcoming, should not be front of house. The food was, at best, average. The service was good and conducted with competency, thankfully not by the girl who happened to be there when we entered the restaurant. Our evening was interrupted by a group booking of 16 or so people and we could hardly hear each other speak as they were so loud and noisy, inconsiderate of other diners. They kept changing chairs that were very noisy when dragged on floor. The restaurant was cold and toilets were out in the yard, which was even colder. Will not be in a hurry back. It was a pity as we enjoyed previous visits.
