About Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire

Llys Meddyg is a gem of a hotel nestled underneath Carningli (the Mountain of the Angels) at Newport on the Nevern estuary, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The Georgian townhouse offers a unique blend of old and new with elegant furnishings, deep sofas and a welcoming fire. The menu at Llys Meddyg champions foraged ingredients from the shores, hedgerows and their own kitchen garden alongside seasonal fresh ingredients from passionate local producers, cooked in a wood-fired kitchen and designed to celebrate what’s best in season. The Dining Room, at the heart of the building, has intimate tables for couples, family and friends. Or you can enjoy an evening meal or drink in the enclosed Secret Garden where outdoor pods have bench seating and overhead heating. The Cellar Bar is located in the oldest part of the building and dates back to the 15th century when it was a mariners bar.  With its flagstone floor, log burner and inglenook fireplace, it has a unique atmosphere of curiosity, warmth and conviviality. All the bedrooms at Llys Meddyg are large, bright and comfortable with contemporary en suite facilities, double bed and stunning interiors. The hotel is a great base from which to explore the breathtaking beaches, rivers, woods and mountains that are just a stone’s throw away from your door.

What a treat. A birthday supper made extra special by the kind and considerate attention from our hosts who went out of their way to make us feel as though the Cellar Bar was our own private party. To start with we enjoyed a couple of superbly prepared Margaritas from Emily, our skilled and charming bar-tender. Then, when suitably acclimatised to the cosy Cellar Bar, we settled down to enjoy reading through a very original and delightfully curated menu. So hard to decide what to have! My wife enjoyed a delicious Mullet main course served with delicious roasted carrots on a yoghurt bed while I had a superbly cooked medium rare beef sirloin with a generous portion (enough for 2) of perfectly prepared purple spouting broccoli with flaked almonds and yoghurt. We shared some very tasty crushed roasted potatoes. The veg alone would have sated the hungry. Both meals were served on piping hot plates which was lovely as we enjoyed the log-burner nearby. The ambience was fantastic...with rain pouring down outside we were tucked away in the warm. The wine pairings were spot on and the Tokai to finish capped off a wonderful evening. Llys Meddyg at its absolute best. Bravo!

Warm welcome into the restaurant on a wet winters night. We had starters which were beautifully presented , ( mackeral and pigs cheeks.) Then two of us had the lamb and one the beef. Both dishes tender , delicious and with three veg dishes between us we were almost too full for pudding ! We shared a pudding just to have a little something to finish. Also well presented and a lovely morsel each. Service prompt and accurate. Thanks for a very nice evening. As a local its so good to have somewhere of this standard to take visiting family to.

We had two evening meals and thoroughly enjoyed all the food which was served to us. The Pembrokeshire lamb was an extremely attractive plate of food and very much appreciated. The fillet steak was cooked exactly as requested with an excellent jus. We particularly enjoyed the flavour and the presentation of the carrots. We loved the quirkiness of the hotel especially the diversity of the artwork. The room was large and comfortable. All staff were superb. We plan to return.

We had a lovely stay at Llys Meddyg. The room was large and comfortable and our dog was welcome. Our breakfasts and the one dinner we had were superb. Would definitely stay again, preferably with nicer weather!
