About Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire

Llys Meddyg is a gem of a hotel nestled underneath Carningli (the Mountain of the Angels) at Newport on the Nevern estuary, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The Georgian townhouse offers a unique blend of old and new with elegant furnishings, deep sofas and a welcoming fire. The menu at Llys Meddyg champions foraged ingredients from the shores, hedgerows and their own kitchen garden alongside seasonal fresh ingredients from passionate local producers, cooked in a wood-fired kitchen and designed to celebrate what’s best in season. The Dining Room, at the heart of the building, has intimate tables for couples, family and friends. Or you can enjoy an evening meal or drink in the enclosed Secret Garden where outdoor pods have bench seating and overhead heating. The Cellar Bar is located in the oldest part of the building and dates back to the 15th century when it was a mariners bar.  With its flagstone floor, log burner and inglenook fireplace, it has a unique atmosphere of curiosity, warmth and conviviality. All the bedrooms at Llys Meddyg are large, bright and comfortable with contemporary en suite facilities, double bed and stunning interiors. The hotel is a great base from which to explore the breathtaking beaches, rivers, woods and mountains that are just a stone’s throw away from your door.

As a large party of diners (12 adults + 4 children under 5 yrs) I must thank the team at Llys Meddyg for looking after us and accommodating us in the restaurant. Some pre-booking of menu choices (venue with a few last minute changes) made the service work well in terms of timing. The food was excellent (as it has been on previous visits). I worked out the cost per head and considering the quality of service and the excellent food (including 4 bottles of wine) it is good value. Many thanks See you again

Visited our favourite restaurant this week to wind up our holiday season. Excellent as usual, however we both had the beef fillet, both were slightly tough and dry. We also felt the prices were higher and portions were smaller. Nevertheless it would not stop us from returning.

On holiday on the West Coast, we were looking for a spot for an anniversary meal, and stumbled across Ilys Meddyg. Both my wife and I are in the trade, and we found the visit nothing short of inspirational. Setting was fabulous; smart but cosy, good large tables, and a beautifully balanced ambience. Service immaculate and well timed, and made to feel thoroughly at home by staff who are clearly immensely (and rightly!!) proud of their produce. Food was simply stunning.Every cut of fish and meat melted in the mouth, all the sauces and vegetables oozed freshness. Unsurprisingly, we were told that literally the whole menu is sourced locally and prepared fresh. This kind of pride and attention to detail is rare, especially at this very reasonable price point. We could not reccommend this immaculate establishment more, and eagerly look ahead to next year when we can return. Thank you to the whole team, this place is quite special.

We have stayed in Llys Meddyg many times and enjoyed eating there. Yesterday’s dinner was excellent: the best we’ve had in a long time. We had plaice and cod. It was well cooked and imaginatively presented with a generous portion of garden vegetables. The bread we had with the olives was unlike anything we’d had before — in a good way. Five stars for that meal.
