About Log Fire Pizza Company

Housed in what was once a historic pub in the South Shields Mill Dam Conservation Area, the Log Fire Pizza Company opened in summer 2024 after a sympathetic restoration of the building. The focal point is the wood-fired Marana pizza oven with a range of 20 or so pizzas available for dine in or takeaway Wednesday to Sunday. There's also a selection of pasta dishes plus a Sunday Roast with beef, chicken and porchetta to choose from along with all the trimmings. Great cocktails too and there's also an upstairs function room available for special events and parties.

If you love raw dough come here…
Really disappointed by my visit. It was so chapstick! Booked for Saturday tea time with my family. First thing to note - it was heaving with drinkers. Great atmosphere for drinkers but it wasn’t suitable for a sit down meal. Main observation - really bad staff management. Barmaids are trying to do table service. Cooks are brining out food. Menus were brought and we had to ask for extra as only received an 3rd (no kids menu and no pizza menu were given). Not an issue at all but shows how stretched the team were. The order was taken by the barmaid who kept running out between servicing the long queue at the bar. She was lovely but trying to move fast as a queue was forming at the till. She didn’t read our order back to us and when it came - a team of chefs brought it out - it was incorrect. Another cook then appeared and we asked for ketchup for the fries which never appeared. Despite the calamity, we weren’t too concerned and happily tucked. It wasn’t the best food on earth. Not as hot as you’d expect fresh out of the oven pizza but edible. I question if my kids pizzas were fully done but they were happy. However one of the pizzas was gruesomely and inedible raw. The dough was not cooked at all and the cheese in the middle solid and cold. When I politely and discreetly explained this to the chef / waiter who was walking by - he rolled his eyes at me! I explained I wasn’t being awkward - could he just throw it back in the oven for a few minutes so it’s hot please? He rolled his eyes again then took the pizza… but bizarrely appeared a couple of minutes later with the chef to say the chef had inspected the pizza and that it is fine - the oven was 600 degrees and there is no way it was not cooked but they were prepared to cook me a fresh pizza. I reiterated the dough was raw and the cheese in the middle not cooked so whilst it may have touched the surface of the sun - not for long enough! I didn’t want a whole new pizza and be a pain could they please just cook it a bit longer for me?! I got it back, finally cooked to an acceptable standard and hot. So all in all - horrible. Noisy, loud, drinkers first. Clearly not enough staff and food is rushed and undercooked as a result

Came for a date on Friday night - Served by Will who was lovely and helpful even though it was fairly busy! Food was delicious and enjoyed a game of pool and a few games of darts. Will definitely come again.

Came for Mother's day lunch on Sunday - had booked a table in advance but was told on arrival the table had been taken by someone else!! We were then sat on two tables pushed together behind the bar- not very comfortable and the music was so loud I couldn’t have a conversation with the person sat next to me!! Very excited to try the Porchetta after seeing photos and reviews on Facebook unfortunately the meat that was served to me was 1 slice of razor thin pork - not sure about the stuffing it was supposed to have as the whole meal was completely swimming in gravy and certainly had no crispy crackling, the Leek gratin was dried out and the whole plate had a crusty outline where it had obviously been sat under a hot plate! I would have sent it back for a different meal - however no staff to be found until they came back to clear the plates!! Most disappointing meal and will unfortunately not be returning.

Sunday lunch on Mothers Day extremely disappointed! Porcetta shown on social media couldn’t be further from the dish brought out to me and my family! What can only be described as razor thin slice of fatty meat so thin it was see through and not a hint of cracking to be seen. I understand the staff were busy and they work hard although the lack of customer service did not help our situation and we left disappointed never to return. We were sat in back of the building with zero ambience and music blasting next to our table we couldn’t even hear each other. Don’t believe the hype of socials

Great food and excellent service by the young staff, my parents, myself and young daughter really were looked after. I had the meatballs in the dough bowl which were very nice

Attended for Sunday dinner two weeks in a row, most recently sun 1st feb. Quick service for drinks then ordered food, pork dinner and beef dinner, with side of pigs in blankets. Huge portion, lots of gravy, very good value for £13/15. Music good, nice restaurant/bat vibe. No issues.
