The Lord Roberts was recommended to me as a tea shop, which it isn't. I am sorry to say this was not a good experience when I visited on Tuesday 20th Oct. We booked for 3 people, and although we were eventually seated, it was very cramped and noisy. There was a delay in taking our orders and even a longer delay for the drinks and subsequent food to be served. I could not eat the Mezze meal I ordered, the bread was tough, the hummus was hard and cold, and as to another bowl of something I had no idea what it was. I recognised the olives and had a few of those. All in all a disaster.

Sad to say three friends and I were disappointed with our visit. Waited 30 minutes to have our order taken. Drinks arrived after a while, two teas were ok but two coffees were just warm and were replaced after asking. Waited a further 15 minutes for our food, the wrong piece of cake was served, sponge cake instead of coffee and walnut cake so that was replaced but sadly was dry, a sausage bap which was on the dry side, an omelette which was ok, a fruit-topped yoghurt was also ok but very small for the price. Have visited a number of times but sadly no more.

I’m sorry to be writing this review because I’ve come to the Lord Robert many times down the years and recommended it to many others but I went with 6 friends on Tuesday and it was a very trying experience. From ordering the food and drink to waiting for its delivery it all seemed to go wrong. There was obviously staffing issues and the owner tried to explain that one staff member walked out and there was only one person in the kitchen. It’s not the customers fault and blaming the IT and staff isn’t helpful. I don’t want to go in to everything because I,hope this is just a blip and things will improve soon.

This place is such a good find! Great food, lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. The portions are generous and I love the gf options. I’ve been telling everyone I can about it. Hope to be back very soon!

hi I went 25 Sep with new menu now in effect. unfortunately service very slow. seemed disorganised and chips came after we finished main meal. really they should not of charged us but we didn't want to make a fuss good customer service staff would offer this automatically.. Come here often also saw next door table had their order wrong too and no apologies made to them.. Shame as in past service is better especially when owner is there . prices also risen jacket pot now 50% more!!

I have visited LROTG a couple of times before. The staff are always lovely. When I visited on Sunday, there was a new menu and new members of staff and felt very unorganised. We waited around 40 minutes for food and when it arrived, it was cold. I did mention this to the waitress who was lovely and apologised, advised that this was noted, however we were not offered any discount at all or an extra coffee on the house. This was disspointing as this is not a cheap breakfast, I go for the quality and paying for a cold breakfast was not the one I am afraid. Would think twice before returning.
