This must be the best restaurant in Porthleven. The food is local produce, superbly cooked without silly gimmicks and is honestly priced, and to sit looking out over the harbour - wonderful. We even watched one fisherman come off his boat and deliver into the restaurant while we were eating, hows that for fresh.

We had a meal in the Lugger Bistro last night. Moules & Crab Bisque as a starter, followed by Sea Bream & Turbot washed down with a chilled chablis. Lovely atmosphere, food well cooked with good presentation. Staff pleasant and attentive. Will definitely revisit next time i'm in Porthlevan.

I had a terrible meal here last week. Leek croustade with barely cooked leeks, virtually solid sauce and choux pastry which was crisp on top but remained a stodgy dough beneath the surface. To add insult to injury, when I mentioned this to the waitress the chef rather than apologising for an inedible meal had the arrogance to say that this was how it was meant to be cooked. It was also very over priced- a 500ml bottle of beer cost £3.98. We won't be eating here again.

We called in at this restaurant on a cold Thursday March evening and found a gem of an 'eatery'!
Very well presented and excellently cooked food, with more than adequate portions.
First courses: Cod Fish cakes excellent flavour (from my wife) and Garlic Mushrooms (presented as sliced mushrooms in a very subtle garlic/parsley sauce - very different from the usual whole/breaded variety).
Main Courses: Chicken in pancetta - huge piece of chicken & very well cooked (lots of flavours - again from my wife) and a medium-rare sirloin steak, excellently cooked by the chef - this I would rate as one of my top ten steaks of all time! Both dishes accompanied by good selection of vegetables and a very interesting potato 'cake' based on slices of potatoes on top of one another.
Dessert: Home made 'doughnut' made from choix pastry and filled with hazelnut cream, accompanied with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (made from Devon clotted cream), 'luverly'!!!!!
An excellent meal in an excellent restaurant. We will be back for another visit!

Superb surf and turf, my girlfriend had stuffed chicken breast and was thoroughly impressed. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Had an enjoyable dinning experience in beautiful surroundings in an old Cornish building with fantastic views of the harbour. Very much enjoyed the selection of local produce
