About Lunesdale Arms

Influenced by modern Florentine design and art, the Lunesdale Arms is an old coaching inn at Tunstall in the beautiful Lune Valley, close to Kirkby Lonsdale. It’s been stylishly redesigned to ‘soothe the soul’ and the cuisine is a British take on southern Mediterranean cooking. For starters there’s a choice of tapas and small plates and main courses include steaks, home-made bronze dyed pastas, fish, gourmet burgers and specialities such as Mallorcan Chicken Casserole. Also pizzas are available to eat in or take away. The Lunesdale Arms has al fresco dining too when weather permits.

We absolutely loved our afternoon Sunday lunch. We were a little late and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, perfect portion size and such high quality presentation and meat and vegetable accompaniment. The burger, chicken with summer ratatouille and the haloumi kebab as well as the roast beef were outstanding, we all enjoyed our meals. Our very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable server, Ellie was fantastic. All staff members of staff were an asset to the Lunsdale Arms. We left feeling elated with our lunch and the exceptional value. Thank you!

We were very early but only had a short wait before being shown to our dog friendly table. Good choice of menu, friendly, polite and helpful staff. Would I go there again? Definitely

We were staying locally and the pub was suggested to us. We are vegetarians and find pubs often don't cater well for us. We ordered a rice and mushroom bake and a tagliatelle dish. Both were very disappointing. The rice bake was dry and the two mushrooms contained in it rubbery. The tagliatelle was tasteless- a few almonds, broccoli. It was very expensive for such a poor meal. We would have sent it back but we had travelled a long way that day, we were hungry and had waited a long time for the meal. Staff apologised for the wait. The beer was good!

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with our meals. Steak way over cooked , mushrooms cold, onion rings swimming in greese, blue cheese sauce came out half way through our meal as did my partners chips, and the burger he ordered was not what was given to him. To pay £70 for a meal and not enjoy one bit of it and the waiting staff seamed panicked when it was just us 2 in there made us feel uncomfortable too the food was left and the wine was not drunk, I settled for cooking myself when we got home. I did bring this up and got told i would be contacted and not heard anything. Not what we expected after our first experience.

very friendly atmosphere friendly and polite staff the surrounding is nice and relaxed and chilled food was amazing texture and taste was perfect great prices not overly priced service was fabulous not rushed
