About Ma Egerton’s Stage Door

Ma Egerton’s Stage Door, right by Lime Street station, is one of Liverpool’s most historic pubs and dates back to 1846. It’s named after its longest-serving landlady, Mary Egerton, who ran the pub from the 1930s and was also a registered theatrical agent, entertaining the likes of Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy and Harry Houdini., many of whom you can see on their Hollywood Wall of Fame. And today it’s still a popular haunt for performers at the Empire and other nearby theatres. Food is served here right through day from noon to 11pm (10pm Sundays) and you can eat in the bar or the lounge area as you please. The pub is famous for its traditional scouse but there’s also a range of pizzas to choose from as well as soups, salads, cheeseboards and sharing platters. Ma Egerton’s has a quiz night every Monday, hosted by Shameless actress Tina Malone, as well as regular live music events. It can also bee booked for private parties and events.

First time in this preserved Victorian pub. Great little place visited by many stars over the years. Pizzas and Scouse very tasty, good value. Will go back again. So much history . Stepping back in time.

We booked a table at Ma Egerton's yesterday, following the matinee show at the empire. We went with four adults and 2 teenagers. The food and service was outstanding. Lovely chilled pub. Our 13 year old daughter has coeliac disease so ordered a gluten free pizza. She said it was amazing. Recommend both the pizza and Scouse, both really tasty. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Absolutely love the Scouse and such great value. Hubby and friends loved the pizzas. Great little pub with a good atmosphere. Would recommend booking a table if there’s a group of you as it gets busy; sign of a good pub!

As always, and we've been coming last 8 years for Champions League nights, Scouse was marvelous for 3 of our party, I had the Frank Sinatra pizza, have to say up there with best pizzas I've ever had, and I've been to Italy and States, staff as usual great, and so welcoming, cant speak highly enough to be honest..

The pub was empty when we were there and when people did start coming in about one.... No one watched the huge horrible awful televisions.... Spoilt our whole experience, there was no sport on, just people chatting about it.... Great food but won t return as I hate TV s in pubs, sad.

Booked a table ahead of a theatre visit after reading reviews. They were not wrong! Lovely little pub with great atmosphere. Food was excellent. We shared a pizza, salad and olives. All freshly prepared and delicious. The beer wasn’t bad either! Staff friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back !
