The food has gone down hill. Not what it used to be. Prices have stayed the same but portion sizes halved. No longer any discount on Fridays. The place was empty and the atmosphere nil. Average quality food, very expensive over £9.00 for plate of nachos to share, but when they came were only enough for one. Very expensive, shame because it was once good. Would not recommend.

STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! went for a meal with friends for my 18th, my boyfriend with I'd and who is 18 was refused an alcholic drink because he was born in a year in which people were still 17  this year although he was eighteen! Finally they came to give him a drink after around 30 mins! Service was poor and even though reminded on the phone of 18th birthday Mex did not provide any extras that were promised had to ask and ask again! We were also charged for an extra bottle of wine on our recipet which took much negociation for them finally to reliase we had not had it. Finally there were a group of girls we recongised whom are 2 yrs younger, they were given shots and alcholic beverages an were not challenged to provide id. I believe this was because one of the girls relatives worked there! Is this discrimination really acceptable from Mex, not going again!!!! Would not recommend the restaurant generally to anyone as staff, service is poor. The food is good but very expensive! Not worth it if you ask me!

I would recommend the Mex Cantina to anyone. I have been a regular visitor over the last few years and only once had what I would class as a "poor meal" (maybe my fault for not choosing Mexican!). Usually it is excellent food at a reasonable price and the atmosphere is always buzzing. Just one word of warning...it can get pretty loud, especially when it's a "special occasion" like someone's birthday or suchlike. The music is turned up and the manager and waitresses go round the tables clapping REALLY loudly!!

This place used to be a credit to Wakefield but has lost the plot. Slow, uninterested service. Tight portions ( chicken fajita lacking in the chicken department) and a wait so long we gave up on pudding altogether. Many, many better places to eat in Wakey before you go here. Shame it's still living on the reputation of it's former glory - even the staff look fed up.

Very disappointing visit, food was delicious but the service was terrible. The General Manager was very rude towards our party of 15, the front of house staff did not take down our order properly so we only got 9 out 15 main courses, the owner was sat in the corner and didn't care we weren't enjoying our experience and continued drinking. All in all a terrible birthday party, I would only recommend to Health & Safety as a few days later the doctor diagnosed 6 out of my 15 guests with mild food poisoning, can't say for sure it was from there but it seems to add up.

The food is back to the very high standard of how it used to be (it had dipped a little), there is a fantastic atmosphere and the service is exemplary and attentive (but not too attentive as to swamp you). There is as great choice of bottled beers (and I don’t drink beer) There were 12 of us for dinner for a birthday and all our food came out at the same time (!!!) Plus where else can 12 of you eat and drink your fill for under £15 per head!!!!
