went to Momentum at lunchtime with Him , after reviewing and researching for a good local restaurant, was impressed by Chef's credentials ( working alongside SImon Hopinkson @ Bibendum, Lowry etc, made this a really worthwhile visit ), The presentation on entry and warmth from the team there was great, it was quiet with 3 sets (including us as diners (about 115pm) considering this is the old Pub Bridge Inn a true revelation inside with its modern and comfortable decor and remembering we are in Westhoughton, website did the restaurant justice for a change we ordered the pie of the day - 2 glasses of red ( pity the malbec wasn't available by the glass, although excelled by offering the chilean merlot to test before buying Him : chicken, white bean and chorizio pie Myself: Chilli, nachos and Guacamole Him - desert Cheesecake the food was good - the wood platter for the chilli was lovely presentation personally could do with improving the rice and making less watery , the bean soup that came with the dish was lovely a little over powered by the star anise flavouring, pastry could do with a little lift , Nachos were home-made and delicious, the chips were made with fresh oil and well cooked and the crushed peas well could do with crushing! overall the food was good and worth a re visit we have booked to go back and have the al a carte menu the menu reads like a menu not over written, personalised with names of the owners and ensuring you get what it says its a good menu presentation 6 quality of food 6 service 9 will update after next evening visit thank you to the team at momentum for a lovely lunch more than expected

This evening was our second visit to Momentum, and for the second time our party of four had a fabulous meal. The atmosphere is tasteful and pleasant, and although today the dining room was much busier than our first visit, the tables were comfortably spaced so that we almost felt that we were alone. We had different staff on the two occasions and received extremely friendly and efficient service both times .We ate from the market menu .Over the two occasions we have sampled the suckling pig served in different ways and the pan fried cod, and all agreed they were delicious. The livers and the mackerel starters were also lovely. We moved to the a la carte menu for pudding and if it's possible the sweets almost exceed the other courses in quality....well almost. The lemon tart is out of this world . I am a stickler for good pastry and this is GOOD pastry.,with a filling of perfect tartness and texture. If you prefer to make small changes such as having cream instead of ice cream , it is changed very willingly.I must not forget to mention that if you arrive between 5pm and 7 pm the cocktails are 2 for 1 and they're very good at those too! All round an excellent relaxing place, which is now a favourite.

Visited this restaurant for mine and my partners anniversary.. the service was very poor..Started with the smoked mackerel this was ok nothing special..Had the suckling pig for main very chewy no taste cold potatoes overall very disappointed. The dessert was chocolate brownie this was dry think it was stale to be honest. Will not be going back.

Went to Momentum as a treat for Mothers day with my two daughters. The restaurant is really stylish, lovely decor and a nice atmosphere. We chose the two course option and was not disappointed! The food was delicious, beautifully presented and the staff were attentive and really pleasant. The waitress we had(we did not get her name)was from the local area but was at Liverpool uni and she was so friendly and pleasant but very efficient too!My daughter has just moved to the area and will definitely be using Momentum again....it is excellent value for money.

We went as a couple to Momentum on the last Saturday in January. The place was very busy and although we had a table booked we decide to have a drink first in the small lounge bar. Service was slow as there were only two members of staff in the bar but we eventually got our drinks and sat down. When we were shown to our table the meal was served after a short wait. The food was delicious, my husband had the steak and I had the butternut squash risotto. We both chose the toffee apple and pear crumble for dessert and while I enjoyed mine I would have preferred to have an option to have something other than ice cream with it. However I must comment on the service in the restaurant as I was very disappointed with it. It took an age for them to bring the bill at the end and then they brought us the wrong bill!! It then took equally as long to grab the waitress's attention again to point out their mistake and then even longer for her to finally bring the right bill. Another long wait then ensued before we could actually pay. I appreciate that we were only a couple and the restaurant was busy with tables of 4 or more but we both felt ignored. If we were to visit Momentum again we would choose a week night when it might be quieter and the service better.

Have been to momentum at least 10 times now and it just keeps getting better the new 2 for 1 bar snacks is what has prompted this review i had the chilli squid taco with mango salsa and it was to die for!!!! me and the girls sat there from 5-7 drinking 2 4 1 cocktails eating 2 4 1 snacks it was a total bargain of a night out, I've also had dinner there in the evening with my hubby and it was again surprisingly cheap compared to other places in the area, considering the standard of food ...the sea bass is amazing!

Very good food. Nice decor. Good wine at reasonable prices. Have just booked to go back again.

Visited this restaurant twice now, once on a Saturday evening and once on a Thursday. The Thursday 2 and 3 course deals I think are excellent value and the food was lovely. Really like the choice of cocktails and liquid desserts. Michelle (manager?) is very professional. The decor is classy. Will certainly go again.

I went to momentum with my wife and daughter, The choice available in my opinion was limited however the food was OK, the vegetables were slightly over cooked. However I was very disappointed with the dessert. ordered, the ice scream accompanied with the dish contained plastic, a replacement ice cream was provided, this again contained plastic. A young lad apologized and was very sympathetic about the whole situation, This showed the excellent level of staff and allowed my evening to be very good one which my wife and daughter greatly appreciated. I will book again soon !!

Did we just catch them on a bad night? My wife and I have visited RED on several occasions with varying sized groups and always found the food to be excellent so knowing that former RED staff had opened Momentum we thought it had to be worth a try.It ended up as a bit of a disaster. On arrival there was no one to greet us and when the barman eventually acknowledged us we were pointed to the bar area to wait. Everything then seemed to be running in slow motion. The drinks took an age to be brought over to us. We ordered and some time later we were shown to our table. it was 20 minutes more before our starters arrived so why were we sat at the table when the food clearly wasn't ready? Another minor point but the napkins clearly hadn't seen an iron but that seemed to be just our table. The salmon and cucumber starter that I had was, in my view, one of the blandest dishes I've ever had. I did mention this to our waitress ( there was only one for the whole place) and wasn't charged but no one asked what I found wrong. My wife had scallops and squid which she found tast but I don't like to see scallops sliced into thin slices. Perhaps indicates a cost saving effort? The mains then arrived and the wine I ordered to go with it arrived some time after we had started the mains. I had the rabbit cassoulet which was ok but nothing to write home about. The sauce tasted over-reduced and bitter. My wife had the liver which was a generous serving only matched by the caramelised cauliflower that filled most of the plate but was so 'sloppy' it was difficult to eat. The lime didn't fit either. The after dinner coffee was excellent - I believe it is supplied by Exchange Coffee and they are very good. The meal was a special occasion and I really can't remember a dining experience that has disappointed me so much - and I so wanted it to be otherwise.Sorry but I'm not coming back
