About Mr Smith’s Parlour

Inspired by the refinement and social spirit of a bygone age, Mr Smith’s Parlour is a new opening on Hoylake's Market Street. The Parlour blends an old-school bar vibe with a contemporary casual dining ethos — think expertly crafted cocktails, an approachable wine list, well-chosen beers and a menu of small plates and seasonal dishes designed to be savoured with good company. Inside, the atmosphere aims to be both familiar and refined, a place where you can drop in for a cocktail, settle in for a leisurely supper, or enjoy a relaxed evening with friends. Lovely atmosphere in Mr Smiths we have eaten here a few times now with friends. The staff are really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful The food is superb. Fresh ingredients, a good choice on the menu. The seabass and the burgers are delicious. Great choice of cocktails, Josh the chef always comes around to check everything is ok. A great place for a nice evening out

We visited on Thursday. Had booked for 4 but arrived an hour early. We were made extremely welcome. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere and ambiance was lovely. We felt it was intimate and all in all a fantastic restaurant.

When I arrived, it was clear that the staff had thought carefully about where I would be best seated (I use a wheelchair). I dressed for the occasion in a 1920's fashion and this was appreciated by the staff. I was expecting to see some flappers (yes, with an f) but they must have decided to go elsewhere that evening! The service was attentive but not intrusive, even when the place was very busy. I had the scallops to start, which were cooked (grilled, I think) to perfection. Then I had the special of the day as a main course - a fish cake coated in oats with a lovely sauce including tart caper berries for a burst of flavour. I tried the Cattier champagne - a new marque to me - and, given its reasonable price, I was pleasantly surprised by its creaminess and finish. However, that brings me on to the bar service. The champagne had not been chilled at all and took about an hour to reach a drinkable temperature. The staff immediately recognised this issue and put a bottle in the 'fridge'. The pre-dinner (i.e. dry) cocktail that I ordered had simple syrup added and was undrinkable. I had to sent it back. Although some sharpening up may be needed behind the bar, the quality of the food and the attentive service outweighed any negative experiences.

What a lovely evening, we were greeted and taken to our booth. We were a party of 5 and all had different things to eat, The food was beautiful, presented really well, freshly cooked. I had the chicken, it was cooked to perfection. The staff were excellent too, they were extremely busy but nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a lovely evening. I have bought a gift voucher so my daughter and son in law can come for a lovely night too x

Really lovely venue to meet and have a cocktail and a bite to eat. One of the best burgers I have had! (Then I know it’s from the best butchers in West Kirby! ) The cocktail The Smiths Sling, was terrific! Had seen it on the website. Lovely little bar with great décor and personality. Enjoyable evening. Yes will return Oh - and an excellent waiter who made the visit special.

What a wonderful addition to Hoylake. The decor is beautiful and the atmosphere the same. Serving wine, cocktails, small plates and main meals we were fabulously looked after by Matty and Josh. We chose fish and chips from the main menu, a thick piece of fish cooked in a lovely light batter, delicious. Our first visit and certainly not our last. Thank you Dane and team.

Lovely 1920’s ambience, gorgeous cocktails and food was all beautiful, we chose to have small plates in a tapas style. Our bar tender Matty was amazing, nice to see a young man who was on the bar alone at this time, very attentive and chatty to all customers he made our evening extremely pleasant we felt right at home the whole time. We will definitely be visiting regularly ☺️
