The pub features in Diana Henry's 'Gastropub Cookbook' (2004) and in 2006 they won Punch Taverns prestigious 'shine award' for the South East region. This award is for food experience.
In 2007 Tim and Katy Neal purchased the freehold of The Chequers to ensure that the high standards they have set will continue at this truly excellent pub / restaurant.
