About The Netherwood Hotel and Spa

With its breathtaking views out across Morecambe Bay and its 15 acres of woodland and beautifully landscaped gardens, The Netherwood Hotel & Spa is very much the grande dame of Grange-over-Sands on the southern edge of the Lake District. The Victorian manor is Grade II-listed and boasts 27 rooms in the main building plus another four in the Rock House as well as self-catering options. There’s also a spa, private function rooms and the elegant Dining Room with floor-to-ceiling windows making the most of the spectacular views. Lunch and dinner is served every day (as well as breakfast and Afternoon Tea) and the chefs work with the best local produce including Saltmarsh lamb, Morecambe Bay seafood, Cartmel Valley game and Higginson’s beef. And of course Cumberland sausage and the Netherwood version of Sticky Toffee pudding make an appearance too.

What a lovely lunch in a beautiful setting. Really enjoyed a proper chicken burger. Well presented with a delicious salsa relish. Your staff are friendly and good at his job. A fabulous treat.

Spa was very nice but the changing rooms left alot to be desired as not separate cubicles showers not private either you could see everyone and everything not my idea of private. Then when we went for the food there was no one to help where we should go when we did ask we were put in the lounge for our afternoon tea and not in the dining room where you would expect to eat as there is wonderful views. The food its self was ok but I won't be rushing back

Booked a spa and afternoon tea for my daughter and myself through Travel zoo. This is the second time we have been. The Netherwood property is stunning inside and out, if you like older properties. The Spa……… clean and spacious, except for the changing rooms. No individual cubicle to change in, which a lot of people may prefer. See through glass at shower cubicle, could maybe have frosted glass? Some lockers did not work when trying to lock them. Perhaps piped music in the spa room would be nice and relaxing to listen to, and a few magazines to flick through whilst laying on the loungers? Just suggestions. Restaurant……. Very comfortable and spacious. Afternoon tea was delicious and very filling. The gentleman behind the bar was extremely pleasant, despite being rushed off his feet, Payment only by card. Definitely recommend.

We had lunch the service was excellent , friendly and attentive. Soup was really lovely and hot only complaint would be bread was not that fresh. My salad was really nice well presented . The chicken burger was very tasty. Scone with jam and cream was delicious.

Lovely day, changing rooms a bit snug for so many people, the aroma steam room had no aroma! as other ones I've been in. Staff lovely and informative, lunch and spa good value for the price we paid through Travel Zoo. Had to wait a while for lunch as there was only one poor girl serving between lots of rooms. Will be back in summer when the gardens are in bloom

We have eaten here for the three nights of our stay, the food and service has been exemplary. For the standard of food it is very well priced, as is the wine. We would highly recommend eating here.

We really enjoyed the spa, it felt luxurious with good facilities and friendly staff. It was a nice size and not too many people booked in during our session. We used a TravelZoo voucher which included a glass of fizz and lunch. The lounge area we ate in was very nice and the food was good. The waitress that was working behind the bar had very poor customer service skills and really looked like she didn't want to be there. An elderly guest tried to pay with cash and she was particularly unhelpful.

We had a spa and afternoon tea day. The staff were really friend and accommodating. The afternoon tea was amazing and the setting is just gorgeous. Highly recommended

Had spa and lunch with my friend, was really surprised how small the changing area in the spa was, totally inadequate for the number of clients that were there. Also not enough lockers and no private changing area's which could be a major issue for some people. The spa itself was fine though not a patch on others we have been to e.g.The Daffodil, The Swan etc. After the spa,we went for lunch and ordered soup and sandwiches. The waitress appeared to be rushed off her feet and it took 1hr 15mins for our food to arrive and even then my friends soup was forgotten. The sandwiches were fine but unfortunately the soup was dreadful, completely devoid of flavour, watery and powdery. It had clearly come from a packet. Overall the whole experience was underwhelming and not to be repeated.
