We headed to No 1 Oriental Buffet Restaurant early on a Saturday evening after a busy day Christmas shopping in Sheffield city centre. The restaurant had the ambience of a large bustling canteen, as it was early evening, and the restaurant was very busy, with many families there. The restaurant has a no frills decor with the emphasis on good food. People helped themselves from the well stocked buffet and the range of food was varied. The food was good and plentiful. Only tiny criticism was that the prawn on toast didn't taste much of prawn, but more like fried bread, but everything else was tasty. Very good for those with large appetites as you could go back for more, or you could have a little of everything if you couldn't decide what you wanted. The staff were on hand to help if required. And the bill didn't break the bank. If you want a romantic and intimate atmosphere, soft lighting and a moody setting where you can linger over your meal - forget it. But if you want a no nonsense approach, and enjoy good Chinese food that's freshly cooked and plentiful, then this is the place for you.
