Fantastic! We had an exceptional meal last night. The food is simple, but delicious and all organic. By the end of the meal we felt full, but not overly so as the food is lovely and light. The staff are really lovely and knowledgeable and really add to the whole experience. They were even charming on the phone when I booked and ensured I knew where to park etc. Will definitely be back.

Truly exceptional - I cannot praise the quality and presentation enough - here is Master Chef at work using the finest locally sourced ingredients to produce quite outstanding results. A real treat not to be missed - any connoisseur of good food will love it. Come and enjoy - I certainly did!!

Ode is awesome. The produce is first class, mostly local and much organic, and chef Tim cooks beautifully without unnecessary embellishments or tricks. Local hand dived Lyme scallops with pork belly were stunning, such a good combination, and the venison I had was melt-in-the-mouth and cooked to perfection. I also tasted the Crediton duck which again was stunning and drank a really beautiful organic Dolcetto. The staff are really nice too and knowledgeable in a totally unstuffy way so all in all highly recommended. Really was the best meal I’ve had in 2007.

Had an exceptional meal last night at Ode in Shaldon. We really enjoyed ourselves. The whole meal was delicious and memorable. Really great service, delicious food and an enviable eco-conscious policy. Organic and seasonal, very high quality produce used without exception. The homemade onion seed flatbread with tapendade were a really nice change to the usual bread and butter/olive oil. The vacuum cooked duck and venison were tasty and succulent and the cheeseboard was a proper enormous cheeseboard packed with diverse and interesting flavours. A really nice place to treat yourself and friends.

I have been a regular visitor to Teignmouth and Shaldon since the late 1950s. This is a special restaurant, a one off. Shaldon is a peaceful quaint estuary village and ODE staff give a personal service with the Chef/owner visiting your table to check you are satisfied with the taste of your food. The waitress was immaculate and very polite in dealings. My wife is vegetarian, does not eat fish although eats free range eggs. She found the choice of food delightful. The skills of the chef with world wide experience is obvious in the presentation and taste of the food. An enjoyable evening !

Having had the pleasure of more than one outstanding dinner at Ode in Shaldon- the time came for a visit for their week end brunch. Went to see how they fared with a very elderly friend who has trouble eating anything at all...but a smoked salmon omlette ( Holding the chives to save the very delicate tummy ) proved an outstanding sucess, only eclipsed by the fish cake on my own plate..... Freshly squeezed orange juice and a sicilian lemonade set us up for the very hot sun outside, the warmth streaming in through the open front door. Such a refreshing change for a Sunday brunch
A Local
As a local resident I cannot help but think we are the luckiest people in the area, to have a fine dining restaurant in walking distance of our homes. A trip to the village always includes a look at the menu in the window and several visits for dinner have followed. Being a total fish lover, to be spoilt for choice with at least three different fish dishes caught locally makes a welcome change from the average restaurant menu.

Spent a glorious evening at this exquisite restaurant. The individual attention to detail is the best I've seen. Organic cauliflower soup to die for, tiny onion tarts (one so not enough!) and seared local sea trout on a bed of baby broad beans and swede. And if that wasn't enough - chocolate pudding that melts in the mouth. All accompanied by a superb bottle of organic Sancerre. What a treat - can't wait to repeat the experience!

One of the best finds on the map in the s devon coast area. The biggest surprise to shaldon visitors is to find a restaurant of this calibre outside London. Four of us feasted on squid and scallops, some of the best fish we had ever eaten, and the local fabulous beef. Wonderful complimentary appetiser, and homemade hoummous, plentiful excellent wine, and a bill that did not cause a heart attack - we will be back !
