About Olive Tree

The Olive Tree is housed in a handsome stone and wooden-beamed building overlooking the canal on Bude’s picturesque Lower Wharf. Independently run since 2009, it offers one of the town’s most inviting spots to eat and unwind, whether you’re dropping in after a beach walk, meeting friends for lunch, or enjoying an unhurried evening meal as the sun sets over the water. The light and stylish interior complements the open terrace — a favourite on sunny days — and the menu showcases Cornwall’s best local ingredients with a Mediterranean flourish. Everything is freshly prepared on site with gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian diets all catered for.

Had a lovely dinner at The Oluve Tree - mac&cheese was great! Bit noisy with big families in there but quietened down when they left. Regularly have coffee/drinks but this was 1st time for the restaurant & will definitely be back. Thank you!

Had lunch with son and daughter in law,who were down from London.Two fish n Chips One mushroom and poached egg ,and One BLT,We all thought our meals were very enjoyable.We also use Olive Tree for drink and cake on most Sundays in the winter very warming and nice atmosphere.Staff very friendly and helpful.

Excellent food and very friendly service, if I had a complaint it would be that the helpings are too large, though better than being too small i guess. The gluten free options are terrific. Thanks all for a lovely meal.

We ate at The Olive Tree twice during our recent stay in Bude. We had breakfast (avocado on toast and a regular breakfast) and dinner (vegan fish and chips) and chicken burger and chips). On both occasions the food was great and the service friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great and I would highly recommend. Good veggie and vegan options, the vegan fish and chips was banana blossom in a seaweed batter; fantastic and inventive.

The olive tree staff were lovely and very attentive. We had a relaxing meal catching up with friends. I’m glad I booked as finding tables in the holidays can always be stressful and holiday traffic can cause delays. We had a simple light meal but passed on a desert. Perhaps a less expensive option to keep costs reasonable- a small ice cream maybe would have been nice. I must remember to ask for my salad dressing to come on the side - I like to decide how much dressing I put on. Superb surroundings if you sit outside.

We eat there regularly as we are locals but 5 of us went there for lunch with my visiting Mum. The staff as always were lovely but the lunch was spoilt by 2 things - Mum asked for a “naked” chicken burger but the chicken was very tough - to eat and cut. They added extra salad instead which piled the plate high and untidily sadly. The second was a mother, 2 young children and a set of grandparents at a neighbouring table - the children were excessively loud and disruptive and we did ask them to quieten down - unsuccessfully sadly. It was difficult to hear ourselves speak and we weren’t the only ones looking over at them hoping they might finish soon. Perhaps the staff could have advised them quietly about how disruptive and loud they were being. Spoilt an otherwise lovely lunch - won’t stop us going back as we are locals and they were definitely tourists (maybe that is why they were tolerated by staff)
