About Pettigrew Tea Rooms

Pettigrew Tea Rooms is named after the Head Gardener to the Marquess of Bute at Cardiff Castle between 1873 and 1903, Andrew Pettigrew. This independently owned business opened in 2012 and has become very much a destination venue, serving traditional British and Welsh food in an unrivalled setting within Bute Park, next to Cardiff Castle. Open from 10am-5pm daily, there’s a choice of afternoon tea, sandwiches, cakes, small plates and daily specials. There’s a large selection of teas and coffees on offer as well as wines and beers. Pettigrew Tea Rooms also has a small outside terrace and an upstairs Gallery which is available for private hire. Takeaway available too.

Went here Sunday afternoon for my mums birthday with friends. Heard really good reviews which was why we booked. But I was disappointed the sandwich choice we wanted had gone. Obviously not going to make up more for us. The way the cream and jam was presented in a cup certainly wasn’t the way I would present it. It didn’t look appealing at all. Staff were lovely just a let down with the food selection. Then leaving the toilets were disgusting. So not a pleasant experience. So t think I would go again. Sorry I don’t like writing bad reviews but we were all disappointed.

Booked afternoon tea as a birthday treat for a friend on Saturday April 26th. What a lovely experience! We've had afternoon tea in many other places over the years and the sandwiches we had here were certainly the best we've had! So fresh with a good choice of filling and plently of it and as for the bread it was amazing! The staff were extremely friendly and service was exceptional, thank you!

Went yesterday for sister in-laws birthday treat Food was lovely , but had to keep going downstairs to ask for more coffee. Went to use the ladies toilets they were absolutely filthy lovely location Will i go back that’s no from me

We recently had an Afternoon Tea at Pettigrews in Cardiff . It was a lovely experience good staff, excellent sandwiches (you could choose your fillings) great bread types. Scones were lovely cake to take away . Perfect would definitely recommend.

Had AfternoonTea with my husband and daughter on Wednesday 12 March. The quality and presentation of the food served was excellent. We certainly didn’t leave feeling hungry. Also, the warmth and service of our server was First Class. Would most certainly highly recommend. Well Done Pettigrew Tearooms.
