Came here on Saturday 5th Feb 2010 and experienced true generous Thai hospitality. Fantastic and friendly service mixed with some of the best tasting food I’ve ever eaten. The food is perfectly balanced, full of flavour and just the right mix of spice and heat. Their Thai-green curry is completely unbeatable. Wonderful evening and very reasonable prices.

I am delighted to say that this restaurant is one of the best I've been to. I love my food and I am very fussy. This restaurant is wonderful. I will be going there again and again!

Very disappointing experience. The food was decent - not the best Thai food i've had but reasonable value for money - but the evening was a disaster. We had a huge group of around 30 people next to us - really the restaurant should have booked the whole restaurant out to them. they had spiritis on the table and got progressively drunker, louder and intrusive on other tables as the evening progressed (standing round and even sitting on the floor round other tables so the staff couldn't even get through to clear our plates. The noise was so bad we couldn't hear ourselves speak. We complained to staff throughout the meal hoping they would attempt to control them - they didn't. When the final bill came with no reduction for trhe fact our meal had been ruined we complained to the manager (a first for me in over 30 years of dining out). He was totally disinterested, refused to apologise, offered no discount or even a free drink, and said it was always like that at weekends. Avoid if you want a nice quiet meal as a couple or small group. You'll love it if you want a loud leery drunken group night!

Very good quality food - I would say even better than some of the more expensive establishments in the city centre such as Choapraya. My only qualms was one of the salads which one of us had as a starter was far too hot for most of us to eat. The staff are nice and helpful if a little slow at times but just have a little patience. I will be visiting again soon.

What a great find! Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. We brought a bottle of wine which we had with our meal making it even more affordable and enjoyable. There was a group sat close to us and this added to the atmosphere. Staff really nice and I would recommend the Laughing Tiger Steak to everyone ... It was amazing.! Will be returning again for sure.

The staff at this restaurant are friendly; the food is good and reasonably priced and the drink is as good as you want it to be. I thoroughly enjoy every visit.

My friends and I meet every month without fail at this lovely restaurant. It's simple - but authentic - decor belies the wonderful food they serve. Chicken Pad Thai is a must for us and everything else we have tried over the past several years never fails to delight us. The mixed starters are an absolute necessity as they give you a great selection and good value for money and the service is prompt and pleasant.

My partner & I visited Phetpailin for the first time last night, after reading the many favourable reviews on Sugarvine. I had searched the Internet for Thai restaurants in Manchester and liked the the simplicity and lack of presumption Phetpailin seemed to offer. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who we presumed was the owner. After visiting Thailand three times in the past I was delighted by the relaxed happy vibe & traditional Thai decor in the restaurant. It just feels like a comfortable place to be. We produced a bottle of wine from our bag and were given glasses for the wine and iced (tap) water. We ordered Tom Yam Hed (mushroom soup) and Thai fishcakes as a starter. Both were fragrant, beautifully presented and delicious! We both chose the green curry as our main course. My partner ordered the vegetarian option and to her delight was asked if she would like tofu in the curry, even though the menu didn't specify that tofu was an ingredient. Very thoughtful and pleasing! We were also asked if we would like it spicy, which we did! Both dishes were fiery, fragrant, generously portioned and extremely tasty. My taste buds were transported right back to Thailand! In my opinion this is authentic Thai food at its very best. We left happy and satisfied. The option of BYO wine makes it very affordable and we will return again. The restaurant was pretty quiet and we sensed our fellow diners were also well pleased. We would recommend Phetpailin to anyone who loves proper Thai food in a relaxed homely atmosphere. 10/10!
