The Plantation Bar & Grill occupies the ground level of an iconic Ashton-in-Makerfield building, the old Queen’s Theatre. It’s now the home of classic American cooking with a menu that majors on American steaks, burgers and dogs. The Fell-bred steaks come in three cuts – Top Rump, Rib Eye and Strip Loin -- with a choice of three sauces – Plantation Peppercorn, Dirty Tomato and Bourbon – and served with skin-on fries, home-made onion rings and garnished with herbed butter, sautéed mushrooms and onions. There’s a choice of nine burgers, all served in fresh brioche buns with skin-on fries. Try the famous Smoking Rodeo, a prime beef patty served with Plantation mayo, lettuce, dill pickle, double cheese, caramelised onion and candied smoked bacon and BBQ sauce. And the Plantation ‘posh’ Dogs - Plain Jane, Ein Berliner, Chilli Dog and Bad Boy -- are made with British smoked sausage and jumbo rolls. The spacious venue can accommodate up to 400 and serves food from 5pm-9pm Wednesday to Friday and 1pm-11pm Saturday and Sunday. Then after 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday if you’re in the mood to party, the Plantation transforms into a clubby cocktail bar with dancefloor, right through until the early hours.
