About The Plough at Whitegate

Hard to find but well worth the effort, the Plough at Whitegate is hidden away in a tranquil corner of the Cheshire countryside, not too far from both Winsford and Northwich. The inn dates back to 1869 and prior to that was a beer house. It also sits just off the Whitegate Way, which runs along an old railway line, and is a popular stop for both walkers and cyclists. Food is served every day from 12 noon through to 9pm (8pm Sundays) and the menu is packed full of mouth-watering dishes plus a choice of daily specials. There’s also a range of quality cask ales and an extensive wine list alongside draught lagers, ciders, soft drinks and a selection of coffees to choose from. The Plough also has a landscaped garden area with heated pods available.

My friend and I had our first meal at The Plough..it most certainly won't be our last! The staff were SO lovely.. And the food was simply amazing! Cooked to perfection! I am a fussy eater really, and through absolutely nobody's fault, I don't really have a lot of choices to choose from on menu's,but there were a number of meals I could have happily chosen, I was spoilt for choice. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.. See you again soon.

I’ve been going to the Plough for years on and off as and as yet I’ve never had a bad meal, I meet up with old friends from work and we go here, lovely atmosphere and service is very good and staff friendly, and of course lovely food.

Myself and 3 other neighbours enjoyed a very pleasant evening at the Plough , Whitegate last Monday evening. We all had delicious home cooked meals. Two of us had the steak and ale pie, one had the salmon and another the chicken. Each entre satisfied our expectations and we would come again. The meat pie was tender and there was plenty of gravy. The atmosphere was welcoming, cosy and right for a lovely evening meal out. Staff were attentive in just the right way. The price was as expected .

We ate here for mothers day as our usual go to was fully booked. This was not our first visit to the venue but it was our forst experience ona sunsay. The portion size was great, the selection of vegetables was amazing the most weve had whilst dinig out. The only real negative for the food was the meat was very chewy and stringy in parts (both the lamb and the beef) and the potted dick was very dry even drenched in custard. The sevrvice was hit and miss, the male server was very polite and good at his job. Our female server didint have the same skills. we felt very rushed and mot very welcome, i appreciate it was a busy day for them but we didnt get the service we thought we would.
