About The Plough at Whitegate

Hard to find but well worth the effort, the Plough at Whitegate is hidden away in a tranquil corner of the Cheshire countryside, not too far from both Winsford and Northwich. The inn dates back to 1869 and prior to that was a beer house. It also sits just off the Whitegate Way, which runs along an old railway line, and is a popular stop for both walkers and cyclists. Food is served every day from 12 noon through to 9pm (8pm Sundays) and the menu is packed full of mouth-watering dishes plus a choice of daily specials. There’s also a range of quality cask ales and an extensive wine list alongside draught lagers, ciders, soft drinks and a selection of coffees to choose from. The Plough also has a landscaped garden area with heated pods available.

Wonderful food, absolutely delicious, lovely staff and very good value for money, we will definitely be back, our new favourite place to eat!

Very disappointed. We had a beef Sunday roast and the meat was incredibly tough. My husband’s beef was also very very fatty and he was unable to eat it. Very pleasant staff and service was good though and we did get a reduction on the meal. The desserts were good.

A lovely, reasonably priced meal. Very friendly and efficient staff. Great ambience. This was my third visit in the last couple of months so I can say that things here are of a consistently high standard.

4 of us had the fish and chips and the food was really excellent. The two young people on duty were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. we will certainly be back.
