We visited Ratho a few days after Christmas having found ourselves a little disillusioned with some other restaurants in the area. Unfortunately we were the only ones in the restaurant which is a shame as we had one of the best meals we have eaten, and definitely the best meal we have ever had in Cornwall. The front of house manager was welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant itself is a nicely restored room. However the best part of the evening was the food. Having read the menu we knew we were in for a treat, only a small number of choices and lots of locally sourced food. We had the scallops with leeks and hogs pudding to start and it was fantastic. This was followed by 2 superb main courses - a Cornish rump with braised oxtail pie and dauphinoise potato for my partner, and the Cornish monkfish with crab cake and chive mash for me. Both were cooked perfectly and every texture and taste worked brilliantly together. To finish we had their own creation of cream tea ice cream, with warm scone and strawberry cream. A perfect end to a perfect meal. This restaurant is a must for anyone in Cornwall, I only hope it continues to thrive and will be around for years to come.

Go and eat at this very special restaurant, above the Falmouth Bookseller! A lovely eighteenth century room with long windows and cosy window seats. The menu is interesting without being in the least bit daunting and there is something for everyone. The food is all locally sourced which was apparent from the delicious fresh lobster and wonderfully flavoured crab soup and delicate spicy vegetable fritters.. mmm! A member of my family cannot eat any dairy products and was delighted and hugely impressed by the imaginative and beautifully cooked food she was given and the care taken to find dishes she was able to eat. The welcome is warm and the service friendly and intelligent - definitely the place to be, whether you want a three-course meal or a snack at the bar. I have had three delicious meals there and will certainly be eating there again.

Booked for my birthday with the family, had been told by friends to try this place. beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and amazing original wooden floor. the cooking is of the highest standard. the rump of lamb was beautiful with a ball of confit leg wrapped in a lettuce leaf, clever and impressive. They have even invented a Cornish cream tea ice cream. jam, clotted cream, scone and tea flavours all evident at different stages. brilliant. I seriously recommend this restaurant

I found Ratho whilst randomly wandering Falmouth - hadn't looked it up or anything, but liked the look of the menu, so decided to give it a go. It's a lovely looking main dining room - high ceilings and massive windows give it a light airy feeling. The staff were really friendly and happy to help with recommendations both from the menu and the wine list. When the food arrived I realised how lucky I'd been in finding the place - the starter and main course were both superb and the wine complemented them perfectly. With my first 2 courses being so good I decided to push the boat out and have a pudding too - a seriously sexy looking chocolate pot! Yum! I'll be back!

My second visit and it was very good a great value lunch of perfectly cooked liver, crispy bacon and crushed new pots. The sauce was lovely as was the presentation. Dessert was a chocolate mousse on homemade orange shortbread--fab! great wine list, great restaurant.

I have been here several times and have been impressed with every meal. My favourite being the Venison which was amazing. I was also impressed with the friendly and attentive service that we received. I will keep coming back!

I decided to visit this new restaurant I had been told about by friends and family and was blown away by the quality of food and service, I had the Fillet steak and it was fantastic, it was cooked perfectly, I will definitely be going back.

I wanted to try this new restaurant after seeing the menu outside-very tempting. So I had lunch there on Friday. The pea and rocket risotto with crispy pancetta and a soft poached egg was lovely, I couldnt resist a pudding, creme caramel with strawberry sauce-delicious. The wine list is incredible and I had a glass of a lovely white. Very reasonable cost and I will come back to try it at night.
