About Royal Oak

The Royal Oak nestles on the banks of the river at Bangor-on-Dee, southeast of Wrexham in the Welsh countryside. The traditional village pub makes the most of its picturesque riverside location with extensive outside terracing and seating which is the perfect spot on a sunny day to enjoy a meal, coffee or a glass of wine or a pint. Inside is cheerful and contemporary with cosy armchairs and log-burning fires and plenty of space for diners. The menu offers a selection of British classics, all freshly prepared by the experienced kitchen team.

Myself, my dad and husband attended on Sunday 19th March for the first time and it was lovely. The food was absolutely gorgeous, the atmosphere was great as it wasn’t too busy, and the staff were absolutely lovely. The prices were fantastic too as a plus! We decided we’ll definitely be back!

We enjoyed a good meal at the Royal Oak on Saturday night. The steaks were cooked perfectly as requested and my Hake was delicious as a sort of stew with peppers and potatoes- steaming hot and freshly cooked . The service was courteous , friendly and attentive. I only wish more diners had been there to enjoy a similar experience in tasteful cosy surroundings. Thank you.

Pleasant staff and lovely surroundings. Food was ok but nothing special. The batter around the fish wasn’t fully cooked and my sons steak was fairly fatty.
