I visited Salt of the Earth for the first time since it had changed hands last Thursday night. It was for a friends 50th so there were five of us there with a variety of ages. The evening menu is quite limited if you don't like red meat which made it difficult for the older members of our party. At 9.20 we were told it was last orders at the bar and when we ordered another drink the waiter was not happy! We left to go elsewhere at 10pm and the lights were out before we reached the car. I won't be back!!

what a fantastic venue, but we found the menu a little bit limited ! the fare was excellent, but the delivery just was not there, shall we hope it is just teething problems ????? but we will try it again ( but on the budget daily special menu ) will let you all know how it goes x

If you are hungry then have a meal before you go to this place. The portions are small and the staff are not very welcoming. DON'T GO..........

Mention Salt of the Earth to anyone who has been to the restaurant then just sit back and watch their face.
There is a certain smugness that comes from knowing something that others do not. A secret that you've perhaps decided, for the moment, to keep to yourself. Think back to when you last acquired a fabulous gift for a loved one - it's hidden under the bed. Or the outcome of an amazing movie - the hero gets the girl. Only you know. Hold that thought, now quickly, look in the mirror! That's the look.
And with the facial micro expression comes that feeling: wave upon wave of delight as the memory of unusual flavor or perfectly prepared delicacy seduces the palette. The good news is that unlike a milestone birthday or indeed a great movie plot Salt of the Earth's food can be experienced over and over again without any loss of emotional response. Indeed if anything, each meal underpins the last. Much like a concert by your most loved artists, or a balmy night on your favorite beach, warm breeze on your face, It doesn't get much better.
Owners: Kevin and Gerry Finn continue to search for inspiration for new and exciting dishes to tantalise the taste buds of a growing army of fans who extend from industry professionals to every size and shape of foodie in between. You'll easily recognise them, they're the ones with that self-satisfied glow, often seen on the faces of children as they snuggle up to a hot water bottle.
I would heartily recommend the Salt of the Earth restaurant to families and friends. If you are planning to eat out in Central Scotland - join the club.
